Spy shots of the upcoming Hero Karizma XMR have been doing the rounds for quite some time but now the production-spec bike has been showcased to dealers, hinting that a launch isn’t too far off.

  1. First Hero product to have dual-channel ABS

  2. Will be powered by a new engine, likely liquid-cooled

Hero Karizma XMR: what can be seen?

The new Karizma XMR has a completely new design language compared to any other Hero product on the market currently. Its fully-faired design and split seat set-up are indicators that this will be an ergonomically committed machine than the earlier Karizma models or any other Hero model on sale currently.

The alloy wheels also have a very different design and are likely all-new units. Considering that the Karizma XMR is a sporty machine, we expect the alloy rims to be shod with fatter tyres than any other Hero offering and going by the sporty theme of this machine, they could quite possibly be radial units. Despite all this overt sportiness, the Karizma XMR has a centre stand, indicating it won’t sacrifice practicality altogether.

From what little can be seen of the engine, namely the casing and the new stubby exhaust can, it points to this being an all-new mill and will likely feature liquid-cooling, if the persistent rumours surrounding this bike are to be believed. With what appear to be ABS rings at both ends, the Karizma XMR will likely be the first Hero product to have dual-channel ABS as standard.

Considering that Hero always prices its products aggressively, we expect it to be positioned around the Rs 1.8 lakh mark (ex-showroom). The upcoming Karizma XMR will rival the hugely popular Yamaha R15 V4 (Rs 1.81 lakh-Rs 1.94 lakh) and the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 (Rs 1.92 lakh-Rs 2.02 lakh).
