The BSA Gold Star 650cc cruiser motorcycle has been spotted testing in India. Just a few days back, the UK prices for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 rival were leaked ahead of its launch there.

  • BSA Gold Star is currently made in India

  • Powered by a 45hp, 652cc, single-cylinder engine

The motorcycle in the images can be identified as the BSA Gold Star, thanks to the teardrop-shaped tank with a circular indent which would house the BSA badge, the flat single-piece seat, the engine cover and the small, circular indicators.

BSA falls under the umbrella of Mahindra’s Classic Legends, which also brought back the Jawa and Yezdi brands. Like Jawas and Yezdis, the BSA Gold Star 650 is currently made in India and hence it doesn’t come as a surprise that the motorcycle has been spotted testing here.

However, even though it’s been seen on Indian soil, the Gold Star 650 launch in the country won’t take place anytime soon. The company is currently focusing on its UK launch, after which there are plans to expand to the rest of Europe and the US. The Gold Star’s introduction in India will be considered only after this, until then the bikes will simply be manufactured here. BSA is also working on opening another facility in the UK, post which manufacturing will be split between the two.

The BSA Gold Star 650 is powered by a 652cc, four-valve, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that puts out 45hp and 55Nm of torque. Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm telescopic fork up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear, while the braking hardware consists of discs at both ends with dual-channel ABS.

Do you think BSA should bring the Gold Star 650 to India as an alternative to the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650? Let us know in the comments.
