Yamaha has launched its BS6-compliant MT-15 at Rs 1,38,900 (metallic back and dark matte blue) and Rs 1,39,400 (Ice Fluo Vermillion), with the latter being the bike’s new colour scheme. When compared to the BS4 MT-15, the BS6 model costs around Rs 3,000 more. The MT-15 also gets a few other updates for 2020.

The biggest change is the aforementioned ‘Ice Fluo Vermillion’ colour scheme that’s similar to the one the Thai- and Indonesia-spec bikes get. It uses silver as the primary colour on most of the body panels, with bright neon orange on the wheels. For 2020, the MT-15 also comes equipped with a radial tyre at the back and a side-stand engine cut-off feature.

In its BS4 guise, the MT-15’s 155cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine puts out 19.3hp at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. In the transition to meet the BS6 standards, the engine’s output has dropped by 0.8hp, so it now puts out 18.5hp at 10,000rpm. In comparison, the BS6 R15, which shares its engine with the MT-15, experienced a lower drop of 0.7hp. Peak torque has also gone down to 13.9Nm on the BS6 MT-15. The kerb weight though remains unchanged, at 138kg.
