The BS6 BMW G 310 GS is going to get subtle design changes. We’ve got our hands on images of the production-ready 2020 G 310 GS that provide never before seen details.

  • New G 310 GS features minor styling tweaks and a BS6 engine

  • Bookings began on September 1, 2020

  • Launch on October 8

Earlier today, we brought you news that BMW Motorrad India is all set to launch the 2020 G 310 R and G 310 GS on October 8. Now, we’ve got a picture of a G 310 GS on the production line and some studio shots of the bike. Here’s everything we can deduce.

2020 BMW G 310 GS styling and feature updates

The new G 310 GS has received rather minute changes in the cosmetic department. For starters, the bike in these images features a black base colour, while the BS4 models were available with a white or silver base colour scheme. Additionally, there are changes to the graphics – the ‘GS’ logo on the tank is now larger and there’s a ‘Rallye’ sticker on the front beak. Another notable visual change is that the frame is now painted red, unlike the older bike that had a black-coloured unit.

We also noticed that the G 310 GS in the studio shots is equipped with Pirelli Rosso II tyres. However, the bike on the production line is not equipped with them. Another aspect we noticed with the bike in the studio shots is the addition of a centre stand. The BS4 bike did not get one as standard, and it remains to be seen if the new G 310 GS will.

Updates to the list of features seems short, too, based on the information we have at the moment. Earlier reports speculated that the bike would feature a TFT instrument cluster – like on the TVS Apache RR 310, which is its platform twin – but that doesn’t seem to be the case. These new images confirm that the upcoming G 310 GS will continue to use a digital console.

2020 BMW G 310 GS engine details

The BMW G 310 twins use the same 312.2cc, single-cylinder, fuel injected, liquid-cooled engine that powers the BS6 Apache RR 310. It’s very likely that it’s this exact engine that will make its way onto the BMWs. However, the Apache also gets ride-by-wire and four riding modes – features that may not make their way onto the GS twins.

2020 G 310 R and G 310 GS bookings open

BMW Motorrad dealers across India have already begun accepting bookings for the new G 310 R and G 310 GS. Customers can visit any BMW Motorrad dealership or fill up an enquiry form on the brand’s website to make their booking. The company says deliveries will be done on a first-come-first-serve basis.
