You get three riding modes - Eco, Standard and Power - with a Boost button for short bursts of additional performance.

Thanks to the batteries being located under the seat, bootspace on the Aerox E has seen a substantial drop from the petrol version’s 24.5 litres to 15 litres.

Each of the two 1.5kWh detachable batteries weighs 13kg.

The Yamaha Aerox-E is the brand's first electric scooter for India, and is currently the most expensive Yamaha product on sale in the country. It is closely based on the petrol Aerox 155 in terms of design, retaining the twin-LED headlight, aggressive front apron and sporty bodywork, but switching to a TFT instrument cluster in place of the petrol model's LCD unit. The Aerox-E uses a dual removable battery setup with two 1.5kWh packs that can be charged independently at home or at work without needing access to a charging point for the scooter itself – giving a combined capacity of 3kWh and a claimed IDC range of 117km.Power comes from a hub-mounted motor producing 9.5kW of peak power and 48Nm of torque, with four riding modes – Eco, Standard, Power and Boost – the last of which provides a short burst of additional performance for overtaking.
