The Nissan Magnite has secured a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating for adult occupant protection with 32.31 points out 34. Meanwhile, child occupant protection was rated at 3-stars with 33.64 points out of 49. The Magnite’s body shell was also rated as ‘stable’ under impact, and it also received an ‘OK’ rating in the side pole impact test. The Magnite comes equipped with six airbags and ESC as standard; however, it misses out on seatbelt reminders for the rear seats. The pre-facelift Magnite with dual airbags had a 2-star Global NCAP safety rating, so the improvements in standard safety features has certain helped improve its safety rating.
The new Magnite was voluntarily sent by Nissan for testing, and at first, it only secured a 4-star rating. However, Nissan was not satisfied with that rating, so they made certain improvements to the compact SUV and sent it again for testing. It is in this second round that the Magnite secured a better 5-star rating.
