The new Santa Fe looks sophisticated and is one of the best looking SUVs around. Window line curves upwards towards the rear, giving it a coupé-like appearance. The range-topping four-wheel drive automatic Hyundai Santa Fe is priced at Rs 29.25 lakh. The dashboard is well made but the touchscreen is a tad small. Large door pockets can hold 1.0-litre bottles. The new Santa Fe uses the same 194bhp 2.2-litre diesel motor as the earlier car. It's decently quiet, responsive and performs quite well. Hexagonal chrome grille is the most striking feature of the Santa Fe. The headlights are now Xenon projectors with LED daytime-running lamps. Driver's seat gets 12-way powered adjust but passenger seat is fully manual. The softly sprung Santa Fe deals well with broken roads though it tends to bounce and roll a fair bit when driven fast. Six-speed automatic gearbox is fairly responsive but tends to upshift early. The middle row offers great comfort and space but the base doesn't tip forward, which hampers access to the rear Hooded design of instrument binnacle is typical of most Hyundais. 'Flex Steer' steering system gets 3 modes - Comfort, Normal and Sport, which alters the steering weight and feel. Rear seats fold flat and additionally, the middle seats fold 40:20:40 to maximise luggage space available. The new Hyundai Santa Fe is lower, longer, more luxurious and better equipped.
