Could you please inform me when deliveries of the Ultraviolette Tesseract are expected to begin? I booked mine in March 2025, and nearly a year has passed without any update.

The Ultraviolette Automotive Tesseract is now expected to launch in the second half of 2026, with deliveries commencing shortly thereafter. This represents roughly a six-month delay from the original timeline announced during its unveil in early 2025.
According to sources, the delay stems from additional enhancements and new technology being integrated into the bike, as well as the extensive validation required before it reaches customers.

Hello Autocar, my budget is around ₹90 to 95 lakh, and I am considering the Mercedes-Benz GLC or an E-Class demo vehicle. Lately, I came to know that Mercedes is launching the GLC EV in India. It would be great if you could share any details about the car’s launch in India, such as when it is expected to launch and whether it is worth waiting for.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC EV is expected to be launched in India in the second half of 2026. The GLC EV is the electric version of the next-gen GLC, which is also expected to be launched in India around the same time. The GLC EV will be powered by a 100kWh battery pack and will have a range of around 500km. It will also be equipped with a dual-motor setup, with the front and rear axles getting their own electric motors. It boasts the latest EV technology from Mercedes-Benz, and the all-new infotainment system has a far better UI than before. A lot of the on-board tech coming in the GLC EV will first be seen on the CLA EV sedan that will be launched next month. This will give you some idea of what to expect in the GLC EV.If you can wait, the GLC EV will be worth considering, as it will be a more modern and efficient alternative to the current Mercedes-Benz GLC.

I want to change my old car. My priorities are safety, mileage, overall maintenance and riding comfort. My budget is 15 lakhs. Should I wait for the Renault Duster Strong Hybrid? Do you have any other suggestions?

The Renault Duster strong hybrid is expected only around Diwali, so it’s still about 7-8 months away. Prices aren’t out yet, but when it arrives, it’s likely to be more expensive than the regular Duster, and most indications suggest its top variants will sit well above your Rs 15 lakh budget. So if you need a car now, it’s probably better to look at existing options rather than wait.A good choice around your budget is the Maruti Suzuki Victoris VXi Automatic. It is priced at about Rs 15.8 lakh on the road. Since Maruti is pushing Victoris hard right now, you may be able to negotiate a discount to bring it closer to your Rs 15 lakh target. It has a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, Maruti’s reputation for low running and maintenance costs, and decent ride comfort and mileage for daily use, which matches your priorities. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are also good options. These two and the Victoris are very similar underneath. They share the same platform, engines and transmissions, and in their hybrid variants, the strong hybrid system behaves the same in both. The main differences are in styling and feature packaging:The Grand Vitara leans towards Maruti’s design language and comes from Nexa showrooms, with a slightly sportier feel and often a bit more tech in comparable variants. The Hyryder has Toyota styling cues, a different interior colour theme and sometimes slightly different equipment levels depending on the variant.

I'm 6'2 and looking for a fun-to-drive car, mostly for city use and occasional highway trips. I really love the Thar Roxx looks, but not sure of the ride quality and comfort. Please suggest the best car with all creature comforts under ₹25 lakh. Thank you!

We completely understand why you like the Mahindra Thar Roxx. It has tremendous road presence, feels like a proper hardcore off-roader and has that tough, indestructible character that almost makes you feel indestructible too. It’s a very special thing to own. That said, ride comfort and manoeuvrability aren’t on par with regular monocoque ‘soft-roader’ SUVs. In the city, you will feel the firmness over bad patches, and the body-on-frame construction can make the ride feel a bit lumpy on uneven surfaces. It’s not necessarily a deal breaker if you’re willing to live with some bumpiness, and performance is strong enough to make highway driving enjoyable. Many Roxx owners happily accept these compromises purely for the character and presence it offers. However, if you don’t want to compromise much on comfort, especially given your height and likely need for good seat support, you could look at the Tata Sierra. It looks stunning, offers excellent comfort with supportive seats and a smoother ride, and feels more settled for everyday city use. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine also has enough punch for relaxed and confident highway trips.
