Follow us onI've been driving the Hyundai Creta diesel manual for the last 3 years, and even though I'm happy with the overall experience, its boot is quite small. Hence, we are forced to use a sedan for longer drives and airport runs. I'm looking for a diesel SUV with a large boot and preferably a 6 or 7-seater. I've shortlisted the MG Hector Plus and the new upcoming Hyundai Alcazar. Which is better?

Autocar India says: The MG Hector Plus is a good option to consider. Its diesel engine performance is stronger, and its seats and ride quality feel comfier than the Alcazar. However, the Hector Plus won't be as fuel efficient as the Hyundai, nor does its clutch feel as light. On the other hand, the new Alcazar is fundamentally similar to the outgoing version, however, its interiors and exteriors are thoroughly updated, and it also gets more equipment than before.
Since it shares its 1.5-litre diesel engine and 6-speed manual gearbox with the Creta, the drive experience will feel too similar. But if you're fine with that, go ahead with the new Alcazar, which has a huge boot with its last row folded away. However, do keep in mind that neither the Hector Plus nor the Alcazar are comfortable for adults in the third row, hence these are occasional 6/7 seaters. If you'll be using the last row often, you could consider a Mahindra XUV700 or a Tata Safari.
