Hi Team Autocar, I bought a 2025 KTM 390 Adventure X two months ago and use it daily in Mumbai for about 50 km, sometimes even 100 km a day. I plan to start weekend rides soon, but the constant buzzing on the handlebars causes palm numbness after 30–45 minutes. Could you please suggest modifications or solutions to reduce these vibrations?

Small fixes like thicker grips or heavier bar end weights will provide some relief for the vibration issue on your KTM 390 Adventure X. You can also look at handlebar dampeners, although that will be a little on the expensive side.

Another option you can look at is changing your sprockets to change your gearing so that the zone you find yourself in the most is as buzz-free as possible. Do bear in mind that putting an aftermarket sprocket could void your warranty, and we'd best advise you not to do so on a brand-new machine.

Hello, I have been riding an Activa for more than six years, and now I want to buy a bike of 350 cc or more. I am 24 years old and know how to ride a bike, but I’m not extremely confident yet. This will be my first bike. I will use it for city rides of 30-40 km, weekend rides exploring roads, and 2-3 highway trips per year. I also really want to travel to places like Himachal and Uttarakhand. I am attracted to the CB350 series, Meteor, and Guerrilla from Royal Enfield, but I’m open to other recommendations. My maximum budget is ₹3.5 lakh on-road.

The Honda CB350 trio are very similar machines and we would recommend choosing the one you like the look of the most. These are plush, smooth, proven and reliable machines, although don't expect too much in terms of performance from the relaxed, long-stroke single-cylinder engine. For similar reasons, the Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet / Hunter are also worth taking a look at. The first two will feel more substantial and have more spacious ergonomics. The Hunter will feel much lighter and more compact in comparison, so depending on the sort of bike you want, you should choose between these three. Finally, the Guerrilla 450 is a far sportier and faster bike than these slower 350cc models we've suggested above. If this is the sort of riding experience you're after, it makes for a good purchase. Since this is your first bike, we'd recommend taking a proper test ride and seeing which one is best for you.

I want to buy a new car with a budget of ₹11-12 lakh. I need a sunroof, alloy wheels, a turbo engine, a good sound system, and strong safety and driving experience. Please suggest suitable options.

We would recommend the Skoda Kylaq as it meets nearly all of your requirements. The drive experience is top-notch with a stiff chassis and suspension setup. It makes this car feel nimble and engaging to drive, and despite its 189mm ground clearance, body roll is well controlled. Also, the grip levels are very good. The Kylaq is also very safe, both in terms of active safety with a secure drive and a good crash rating score, earning a 5-star rating in the BNCAP tests. The Kylaq also comes with a turbocharged engine, and though it's not very peppy, performance levels are more than adequate. At your budget, you will also get a variant with alloy wheels and a sunroof.

Do the Maruti Grand Vitara Delta AT Mild Hybrid and the Hyundai Creta EX(O) IVT have the same mileage in their petrol variants? How do their maintenance costs compare, and which one is the better base automatic variant?

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara AT will prove to be more efficient, but the gap will not be all that large. Sure, the mild hybrid setup does help, assisting the engine and reducing load. But the bigger benefits come when the engine stop/start is also used. Engine stop/start automatically switches the engine off at long halts and restarts it when you are ready to move, in the interest of saving fuel. Trouble is, the AC compressor also goes off with the engine, so on a hot day, you'd rather leave the feature turned off. Do note, engine stop/start is a feature you'd find on the Hyundai Creta IVT too. The Grand Vitara should be more reasonable in terms of maintenance and service costs, though. Strictly speaking, on product attributes, the Creta IVT is a superior package. It's got a smoother gearbox, better performance and is also roomier than the Grand Vitara. The Creta IVT in base EX(O) trim is pricier than the base Grand Vitara AT Delta, but would still be our pick if you don't mind the stretch.

Is installing a radiator guard on the Triumph Scrambler 400X really necessary or beneficial for daily city riding, highway touring, and occasional off-road use on Indian roads? Does a radiator guard affect engine cooling or airflow compared to the stock setup? Thanks for the advice - I recently bought the 400X.

A radiator guard is a good idea for any liquid-cooled motorcycle - like your Triumph Scrambler 400X - especially if you plan to ride off-road. It will protect the radiator from stones and debris that can be kicked up by the front wheel, which can damage it and cause you an avoidable expense. If you get your bike pressure-washed often, a strong stream of water can also bend or damage the fins of the radiator. So, the guard will also help you in this situation. A well-designed radiator guard from reputed brands or the company's accessory catalogue itself will not affect the bike's cooling in any way. It is designed to allow air to flow through it to cool down the hot coolant, so the radiator can do its job efficiently.
