I am a retired 60-year-old living in Delhi. My driver will use the car for about 500 km per month and 5-6 upcountry trips. My budget is ₹10-15 lakh, and I want a safe automatic car. I have shortlisted the Brezza, Venue, Kyaq, and Nexon. Which one should I go for?

Maruti Suzuki Brezza can be a good option for you. It is a no-nonsense car, with 6 airbags, 4-star crash test ratings and the reliability of Maruti. Although the engine performance is not very exciting, the torque converter automatic is smooth. It is spacious and has decent features, and is easy to maintain.

What bike can I prefer at a ₹2 lakh price range? This will be my first bike, with daily usage of around 30-35 km and an occasional ride of about 200 km once a quarter.

Since this is your first bike, you should ask yourself what sort of rider you are and then pick the machine accordingly. If you feel you enjoy speed and want a sporty, engaging machine, then something like a KTM 160 / 200 Duke, Yamaha YZF R15 V4 / MT-15 and XSR155 will be good options to consider. If you want to have a relaxed riding experience and want something stylish, then a Royal Enfield Hunter 350 or TVS Ronin would be a good starting point. Lastly, if you want a single 'standard' bike that can do most daily things, then something like a Honda CB300F would be a good option. If you want something that prioritises fuel efficiency, a 160cc commuter from Honda, TVS, Bajaj, Hero or Yamaha would be the way to go. Take thorough test rides of each machine you consider before making up your mind up.

My parents have used a Zen Estilo for the past 10+ years and now want to upgrade. The car is used mostly for city driving with occasional long trips. Their budget is around ₹15 lakh and they prefer an SUV. Which car would be most suitable for them?

Your parents can opt for the Skoda Kylaq ATl. Skoda Kylaq has engaging driving dynamics, solid build quality and a well-equipped feature list, and it is easy to maneuver in the city because of its relatively smaller size. At this price point, you could also look at a midsize SUV like the Hyundai Creta, but that would mean compromising on certain convenience features that add to everyday comfort and ease of driving.

I want to buy a car for city driving (80%) and highway use (20%). It should be petrol, automatic, and have a sunroof. My priorities are safety, good interior (including a quality sound system), mileage, and low maintenance. Please suggest one.

For safety, interior quality and a good sound system, the Tata Sierra Turbo Petrol is worth considering. However, if you prefer a tried-and-tested package with proven reliability, then the Hyundai Creta remains a popular and safe choice. You could also look at the new Kia Seltos, which has grown in size and now offers improved space and comfort.
