I upgraded from an i20 CRDi to a Grand Vitara Smart Hybrid in 2023 but wasn’t happy with its city behaviour (large turning radius, poor steering centring, firm suspension) or highway performance (engine struggling and noise). I have back pain, so I need a torque-converter (TC) automatic SUV with a max on-road budget of ₹14 lakh. I’m currently considering the Kylaq Signature. Is it a good buy, or can you suggest better alternatives? Rear-seat space for three adults is important.
The Skoda Kylaq fits your requirements well, except for seating three adults in the rear. Its heavily contoured seats and narrow body make it less ideal as a five-seater. A better option for you would be the Mahindra XUV 3XO. It offers a comfortable ride quality that should help reduce back pain and has a wide, spacious cabin, making it a great five-seater. In your budget, you can go for the AX5 variant, which is also well-equipped. The only drawback is its boot, which is smaller than most in this segment.
