A couple of weeks ago, an image of what appeared to be the brochure for the 2019 Gixxer 155 leaked online. Now, there is an image online of the bike in completely undisguised form. Not only does the new image confirm the authenticity of the leaked brochure, but also hints at an early launch for the upcoming motorcycle.
Suzuki is also going to be launching a naked version of the Gixxer SF 250, images of which have also leaked. Both, the 155 and the 250, share a lot of similarities when it comes to the design, but the bike seen in the new picture is the lower-capacity model. Telltale signs include the wheel design, absence of a bronze finish on the engine casing, as well as the oil-cooler.
Seen clearly in the picture is the new headlight design, which will also be seen on the naked 250. Meanwhile, the fuel tank, fork, split seat and the alloy wheels all seem to have been carried forward from the faired Gixxer SF. Though the rear end of the bike isn’t fully visible, it is also expected to feature the same rear-end styling and the chrome-tipped double-barrel exhaust, as well as the fully digital instrument cluster as its faired sibling. The new picture also reveals that Suzuki will retain its blue and black dual-tone colour scheme.
The upcoming Gixxer 155 will most certainly be powered by the detuned 154.9cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine from its faired counterpart, which makes 14.1hp and 14Nm of torque. However, one aspect that will change is the kerb weight – the figure is expected to drop from the fully faired bike’s 146kg. For reference, the weight difference between the older-gen Gixxer and Gixxer SF was 6kg.
The faired Gixxer SF was launched at a Rs 12,000 premium over the older model, and if Suzuki follows the same pricing strategy for the naked Gixxer, it will see the updated bike cost around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
