I currently own a petrol Maruti Baleno, and my daily driving is approximately 70 km. However, this may reduce to about 5 km per day or even just once a week in the future or probably next year. I'm considering upgrading to an SUV within a ₹15 to 20 lakh budget. Should I opt for an electric, hybrid, or petrol SUV? I'm particularly concerned about safety. Could you please suggest suitable options?

If your usage will be minimal, you could consider an electric vehicle, as it offers a smoother and more refined driving experience. However, for occasional outstation trips, an EV can be restrictive. Therefore, we recommend a hybrid, which provides excellent fuel efficiency, silent EV running at low speeds, and petrol power for occasional highway use.
Consider the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. Its ZXI Strong Hybrid variant is priced at around ₹20 lakh on road.

I want to exchange my Datsun Go T 2019 and buy a feature-rich SUV with better driving dynamics, power, performance, ride quality, comfort, stability, suspension, and overall driving experience. I also want premium value for money and at least ADAS Level 2 features. Please suggest a car under a ₹20 lakh budget that covers most of these requirements.

The best options for you to consider include the Mahindra XUV 3XO AT AX7 L and the Hyundai Venue Turbo DCT HX10. In fully loaded form, both compact SUVs pack in lots of comfort, tech and safety features, including ADAS. The Mahindra XUV 3XO has a more powerful engine, a smoother gearbox, more absorbent ride comfort and also feels more entertaining to drive. The XUV 3XO is more spacious, too. On the other hand, the Hyundai Venue has a fresher vibe to it and also feels more polished in its user interface and technology.

Which family scooter or bike is best for both city and highway use for me? My height is 5′3″.

In the family scooter space, consider the TVS Jupiter 110 and 125, Honda Activa 110 and 125, as well as the Suzuki Access, which are our top picks in the category currently. Since you haven't mentioned a price cap or displacement range for the motorcycle, we will provide options from both the 125cc and 160cc commuter classes. They will be easy-going, frugal, comfortable, and affordable machines to buy and own. In the 125cc class, bikes like the Honda Shine 125 / SP125 / Honda CB125 Hornet, Hero Xtreme 125R / Super Splendor / Glamour and TVS Raider warrant strong consideration. Coming to the 160cc class, bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar N160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Honda Unicorn / SP160 and Yamaha FZ models are worth taking a look at.Take a test ride of all before you make a decision.

Hi AUTOCAR, I want to purchase the smallest car for solo driving. It should be safe, reliable, comfortable, and equipped with a good engine that performs well. My budget is 10 lakh, and my running will be around 1000 per month. Also, should I go with automatic or manual? Please advise.

Given that you travel extensively, choosing automatic will add to your day-to-day convenience. The Honda Amaze CVT meets most of your requirements well. It is a comfortable car with excellent ride quality, and the 1.2-litre petrol engine offers smooth and dependable performance. The VX petrol CVT variant should also fit within your budget.

My monthly usage is under 1,000 km, with occasional long trips of around 500-600 km (round-trip) to temples. I am looking for a 7-seater. I have found a 4-year-old Hyundai Alcazar Prestige with a manual transmission, quoted at ₹13.5 lakh. The current seller is the second owner, and I would become the third owner. The vehicle has done approximately 40,000 km. Is this price justified? I plan to keep the car for another 10 years.

Hyundai is expected to discontinue the Alcazar soon. While manufacturers support spare parts availability for several years, availability typically reduces over time, and costs tend to rise. This can make long-term ownership and servicing more expensive and less convenient. Keeping this in mind, it may be worth considering alternatives that are likely to remain in production for longer.
