I am planning to buy a petrol manual SUV with a budget of around Rs. 15 lakh. I am unable to decide between the Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta. Whichever car I choose will be a huge upgrade, as I currently drive a 2010 Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo that is 16 years old. My usage is very minimal, around 200 km per month. Which one would you recommend?
With just 200km a month and a 16-year-old Zen Estilo as your current car, the priority should be a comfortable, reliable and easy-to-live-with upgrade rather than chasing the biggest or most feature-rich SUV. The Kia Seltos petrol manual is the best fit here. It is a well-rounded SUV with a comfortable ride, good refinement and a proven ownership track record. It will feel like a huge step up from the Estilo in terms of space, safety and overall driving experience without being unnecessarily large or complex for your low running. The Tata Sierra is a more premium and spacious option, but with such minimal usage, the extra size and cost are difficult to justify. The Hyundai Creta is a solid alternative too, but it will be replaced by a new one next year. The Seltos also feels more premium and is the better value proposition in this price range. Go for the Seltos petrol manual and enjoy a simple, dependable upgrade that will serve you well for years.
I own a 2010 Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo and am planning to replace it. I’m looking for a petrol SUV with a manual transmission. My monthly running is around 200-250 km, with a mix of city and highway driving. My budget is Rs. 15 lakh. Which car would you recommend?
With a monthly running of 200-250km and a mix of city and highway driving, petrol is the right choice. Your budget of Rs 15 lakh and preference for a manual SUV point you towards the compact SUV car, where you will get the best value and the most complete ownership experience. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is the most sensible recommendation here. It is reliable, easy to maintain, has a strong service network and is one of the most comfortable compact SUVs for both city and highway use. The naturally aspirated petrol engine is smooth and predictable, making it a very easy car to live with over the long term.If you want something a bit more engaging to drive, the Skoda Kylaq is a strong alternative. The 1.0 TSI engine is punchy and the car feels more dynamic on the highway, but it will not be as easy or as cheap to maintain as the Brezza over a long ownership period, and its fuel efficiency won't be as good either. The Mahindra XUV 3XO is also worth considering if you want more features and a more powerful engine, but the Brezza remains the most balanced choice for your usage and budget.
Hello, Autocar team. Please recommend an ICE car under Rs. 30 lakh that is easy to drive and beginner-friendly. I’m looking for a car that offers the most features and comfort. Mileage doesn’t matter.
For a beginner-friendly ICE car under Rs. 30 lakh, the Kia Seltos is the recommendation. It is one of the easiest cars to drive in the segment, with light controls, good visibility and a very user-friendly driving experience. The cabin is comfortable, well-appointed and feels genuinely premium for the price, and Kia has packed it with a strong features list across the range. More importantly, the Seltos is a very well-rounded car – it is easy to live with in the city, stable on the highway and has a good balance of ride comfort and handling. Since mileage is not a concern, you can focus on the higher variants with the turbo petrol engine and automatic gearbox, which adds a layer of performance and convenience without compromising on ease of use. Overall, the Seltos strikes the right balance between comfort, features and beginner-friendly driving dynamics, making it the best fit for your requirements.
