I currently drive a punto emotion. I am planning to upgrade. My preferred options are alcazar or safari. My major driving is in city. Which is more reliable option of these two. Budget 23L. Suggest other better options as well. Also suggest the model.
Since you have been driving the Fiat Punto Emotion(Top Spec), my opinion is that you should go for the Hyundai Alcazar. You should Definitely go for the Hyundai Alcazar over the Safari. As you said that most of your driving is in the city, the Alcazar is way easier to live with day-to-day. It’s smoother, lighter to steer in heavy traffic, and Hyundai’s electronics and service are significantly more reliable than Tata's. The Safari is a great highway cruiser, but its heavy steering, larger footprint, and occasional electrical niggles can get frustrating in urban traffic. As your budget is around ₹23L, look at the Alcazar Signature (1.5 Turbo Petrol DCT). You get all the top-tier features like ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, and a very light driving feel. A couple of other solid options around ₹23L worth checking out: Toyota Innova Hycross (GX/GX-O): Bulletproof reliability and super comfortable for city traffic, though feature-wise it's a lot basic compared to Hyundai. Kia Carens (Luxury Plus AT): Basically shares the Alcazar’s engine and reliability, but gives you slightly better cabin space and saves you some cash. Mahindra XUV700 (AX5 / AX7 Petrol AT): Drives great, feels much more premium than the Safari, and has fewer gremlins. In Nutshell: Alcazar has a less powerful engine than the Safari on Paper, but because it's lighter than the Safari and that it has better NVH tuning, it's noticeably faster than Safari. Hyundai Alcazar 1.5L Turbo Petrol: Power / Torque: 160 PS / 253 Nm ARAI Mileage: 17.5 – 18.1 km/l Real-World Mileage: Typically gives 9 – 12 km/l in the city and 14 – 17 km/l on highways. Tata Safari 1.5L TGDi Petrol: Power / Torque: 170 PS / 280 Nm ARAI Mileage: 14.1 – 16.3 km/l Real-World Mileage: 8 – 11 km/l in city traffic and 13 – 15 km/l on open highways. Tata Safari 2.0L Turbo Diesel: Power/Torque:170PS/350Nm City Mileage: 10 – 12 km/l (drops to 8 – 10 km/l in heavy traffic) Highway Mileage: 14–17 km/l. What the Carens misses out on as compared to Alcazar: Level 2 ADAS (Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, emergency braking) Panoramic sunroof (Carens only offers a standard single-pane sunroof) 360-degree camera Electronic parking brake with Auto Hold Power-adjustable front seats (with driver memory function) Dual-zone automatic climate control Ventilated second-row captain seats 18-inch alloy wheels (Carens comes with 16-inch wheels) Bose 8-speaker sound system Fold-out seatback tray tables for second-row passengers
