The Rolls-Royce Dawn is the size of a yacht and is as much of an indulgence. You enter the Dawn’s four-seat cabin via rear-hinged doors and sit higher than you would in any other car of its type. Of course, there’s space aplenty wherever you may be sat in the car. The cabin is opulent and you can have it trimmed in any colour or material your heart would desire, for a not inconsiderable charge. Since you must know, the Dawn’s multi-layer fabric roof raises and lowers in near silence.
Silent operation is a recurring theme on the Dawn. The V12 engine purrs gently and, even with the roof down, wind noise is brilliantly contained. It’s not for no reason that Rolls-Royce calls the Dawn the quietest open-top car ever made. When prodded, the Dawn will surprise you with its sportscar-like acceleration, though it’s best enjoyed at a relaxed pace. Ride comfort is exceptional too and the stiff body is free from any of the scuttle shake that afflicts, ahem, lesser convertibles.
