New Bajaj Chetak

Bajaj Auto has showcased the next-generation Chetak, which is based on a new platform and gets additional features. While the new Chetak will continue to have three variants, the company has only announced the ex-showroom prices for only the mid variant (Rs 1.20 lakh) and the top-spec version (Rs 1.27 lakh).

  2. It also gets a new touchscreen TFT

New Bajaj Chetak range, performance

The next-generation Chetak has a new frame, which houses a 3.5kWh battery that is now located under the floorboard. Bajaj claims that the new battery is 3kg lighter and offers a higher range of 153km. The scooter comes with a 950W charger, and Bajaj says the scooter can be charged from 0-80 percent in three hours.

Otherwise, the Chetak carries forth the same equipment as the previous generation Chetak, and it uses a 4kW motor. The claimed performance is similar to before, with a top speed of 73kph in the top two models and 63kph in the base 3503 model.

New Bajaj Chetak dimensions

One of the big advantages of moving to a floor-mounted battery is the liberation of some boot space. It was one of the few complaints on the old Chetak, but it has been addressed now. The new 35-litre boot is one of the biggest in the business. The wheelbase has also gone up by 25mm to 1,350mm, and the seat is now longer by 80mm.

New Bajaj Chetak features

The top-spec 3501 variant gets several new features, such as a TFT display with integrated maps, Bluetooth connectivity and screen mirroring. Additional features include document storage, geo-fencing, theft alert and an alert for overspeeding.

New Bajaj Chetak warranty, rivals

The company is offering a 3-year/50,000km warranty with the new Chetak. So far, Bajaj has only announced the prices of two variants and plans to launch the base 3503 variant at a later date. Currently, the Chetak competes with the likes of the TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Ampere Nexus and Ola S1 range.
