Honda Hornet-based CB190 retro bike patented in India

Honda has patented the design of the latest-gen CB190TR neo-retro bike in India, and this motorcycle shares its engine and some chassis parts with the Hornet 2.0.

  1. CB190TR’s design is similar to that of CB300R
  2. The same 184cc mill making 16.7hp, 15.9Nm powers both
  3. Honda could launch CB190TR in India in the future

Under its pleasing retro skin, the Honda CB190TR shares quite a lot with the angular Hornet 2.0, which is on sale in our country. Both bikes are powered by the same air-cooled, 184cc, single-cylinder engine making 16.7hp and 15.9Nm of torque and mated to a 5-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. The similarities don’t end there, as both have the same wheels, USD fork, 12-litre fuel tank and brakes.

Of course, since the CB190TR is a neo-retro bike, its styling is very different to the Hornet, which has angular, sharp, typical streetfighter proportions. The CB190TR is visually most similar to the CB300R, with its round LED headlight, almost flat single-piece seat and stubby exhaust muffler.

Since neo-retro motorcycling is a growing segment in India and because the Hornet 2.0 and the CB190TR have a lot of shared parts, we could see the little neo-retro CB come to our shores someday in the future. Currently, the Hornet is priced at Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and if Honda decides to bolster its neo-retro line-up in India, we could see similar pricing for the CB190TR.
