I own a Tata Indigo that has done 55,000km, but the car is always suffering from niggling problems. I want to buy a new diesel saloon/SUV which should be spacious, comfortable, low on maintenance, and able to tackle bad roads. It will be driven for about 40km daily in Mumbai city and will be taken outside on the weekends. Please note that my family members are tall and hefty. Is the Maruti Dzire a good buy? If not, what else should I look at?
The Dzire is a good car and ticks all the right boxes except for rear seat space. Since you’ve mentioned that your family members are tall and hefty, the Dzire may not be as comfortable as you’d like in the rear. Other than this shortcoming, it is one of the best buys in the market today. Alternatively, you could also consider the Mahindra-Renault Logan. It is spacious and comfortable and delivers exceptional fuel economy as well. However, the Logan isn’t as much fun to drive as the Dzire. In case you want to go up the price ladder, do take a look at the Hyundai Verna CRDi as well.
