India among Mercedes Maybach's top 10 markets

Mercedes-Benz’s luxury division, Maybach, sees India as a strong contender to enter its top five markets, as our country already features in the top ten ones, and the growth has been exponential. Daniel Lescow, head of Mercedes-Maybach at Mercedes-Benz Group AG, highlighted the immense potential of the Indian market, emphasising its rapid expansion and evolving customer base.

India’s luxury car market is maturing at a rapid pace

Speaking about Maybach’s growing footprint in India, Lescow noted that the brand experienced a remarkable 140 percent growth in sales, reaching approximately 500 units in 2024. “India’s luxury car market is maturing at a rapid pace. The knowledge, understanding and appreciation for luxury brands here are extremely high. Given the country’s growing economy, increasing number of high-net-worth individuals and evolving luxury preferences, I firmly believe India has the potential to be among our top five global markets in the coming years,” Lescow told our sister publication Autocar Professional.

Mercedes has also confirmed that 75 percent of all Maybach vehicles sold in India include at least one feature from the brand’s exclusive Manufaktur personalisation range, allowing customers to tailor their cars to their preferences. The brand launched the Maybach EQS and facelift for the Maybach GLS last year, besides updating the Maybach S-Class. In the first three months of this year, Mercedes has introduced the Maybach GLS 600 Night SeriesMaybach EQS SUV Night Series and Maybach SL 680

Mercedes sales increasing in India, hit a record high 

Mercedes India sales rose 12.4 percent in 2024

In 2024, Mercedes-Benz India posted its highest-ever annual sales of 19,565 units, a 12.4 percent increase over the previous year. Notably, the top-end vehicle (TEV) segment, comprising models priced above Rs 1 crore, saw a 30 percent growth year-on-year and accounted for one in every four Mercedes-Benz cars sold in India during 2024, reflecting a growing consumer preference for luxury vehicles.

Over 21,000 Maybachs sold globally in 2024 

Globally, Maybach sold over 21,000 units last year, reflecting steady demand across key markets. While China and the United States remain the largest markets for Maybach, the company sees emerging economies, including India, as crucial drivers of future growth.
