Hi Autocar, please advise me on a suitable automatic replacement for my 2014 Rapid Petrol that offers good driving dynamics but with more creature comforts. My annual driving is about 10,000 km, primarily in the city. I am willing to spend up to 25,00,000.
Given that you're looking for good driving dynamics like your Rapid, you should consider either the Skoda Slavia or the Kushaq.
Go for the Slavia if you prefer the dynamics of a sedan, and go for the Skoda Kushaq if you want more ground clearance and practicality.
Both of these Skoda cars come with punchy 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines, which can be had with automatic gearboxes. Opt for the 150hp, 1.5 TSI if it's performance you're after, and you can even go for the sportier 'Monte Carlo' trim of both for some added spice.

VW Taigun vs Skoda Kushaq. Which would be better for city usage, with a maximum of 500-600 km a month? My budget is below 18 lakh.
The Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq are both identical SUVs in terms of mechanics, so they will also deliver pretty much the same driving experience.
Both SUVs come with a 115hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that's mated to a smooth 6-speed torque converter gearbox that's ideal for city usage, and both will also fit in your budget.
It all boils down to which SUV's design and interior you prefer. Furthermore, there'll also be sizeable year-end discounts available on both SUVs, so see which brand is giving you the better deal.

Iโm planning to buy an automatic car (or electric) with a budget of โน18โ25 lakh. I want an automatic with no noticeable โrubber-bandโ effect, and I prefer strong performance. Iโm deciding between the Tata Sierra, Tata Harrier, Skoda Kushaq, or the Sierra in petrol - which should I choose and why?
Since you prefer performance and like to drive, the Volkswagen Taigun or Skoda Kushaq will be a better choice.
While we are yet to sample the Sierra on the road, it isn't the sort of SUV to be designed for spirited driving. An even better option compared to these would be the Skoda Slavia or Volkswagen Virtus.
They are sedans, but still get good ground clearance and are superb to drive. The 1.5 TSI engine offers excellent performance, and they are well-equipped and practical too.

After 13 years of driving a Jazz, I want to buy a new car for my family of three plus a dog. We live in a small city and drive very little, but take occasional weekend trips. My budget is flexible, ideally around โน15 lakh. Iโd like space, a premium feel and good ride quality. Please recommend 2โ3 best options. Should I consider a sedan or stick to SUVs? I like the Alcazar but Iโm unsure about spending over โน20 lakh for my needs.
You might want to consider the Kia Syros - a quirky, boxy compact SUV, with high-quality interiors and a surprisingly spacious cabin. It's a 60:40 split seats slide and fold too, adding flexibility, and its rear windows roll fully down, which is a positive for your pet. If you want something that's larger and more premium, you may want to check out the Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun, both of which are nicer to drive, especially for your outstation trip.

Which is better, the AMT or the DCT in the Fronx Delta+ and Zeta variants? How different are they in driving experience and efficiency for moderate daily driving?
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes with a torque converter automatic, not a DCT, and the difference between that and an AMT is significant. The torque converter feels more premium, is smoother, and responds much quicker. What makes an even bigger difference is the turbo-petrol engine paired with this gearbox, offering noticeably more power and torque, making it far more effortless to drive.
In contrast, the AMT is mated to the naturally aspirated 1.2-litre engine, which, while adequate, isnโt as exciting. However, the turbo-petrol with the torque converter does lose out on value, as it costs nearly โน3 lakh more at over โน13 lakh on-road.
At that price, you could also consider better alternatives, like the Skoda Kushaq AT in the Signature variant or the newly launched Hyundai Venue DCT in the HX variant, both of which make more sense overall.

Iโm planning to purchase a sedan in the 18 - 20 lakhs bracket and I strongly consider the Skoda Slavia 1.0 TSI AT. But there has recently been news of an update coming soon for it. Is this real? Should I wait for it or go ahead and purchase now?
While the Slavia will be updated, Skoda has not given any timeline for launch. The Kushaq is due for an update in early 2026, and the earliest we expect an updated Slavia is late 2026/early 2027. You can go ahead with your plans for the Slavia without worrying about it getting outdated anytime soon.

The Skoda Kushaq will suit your needs well. Itโs a comfortable four-seater with a spacious boot, ideal for family trips, and easy to drive in the city. We recommend the automatic variant, as the manual has a heavier clutch.
If you prefer a manual, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a good alternative with its light clutch and smooth 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine that performs well at low speeds.

I am looking to upgrade my car and have the Kushaq 1.5 and XUV 3XO GDI in mind. I want a fun-to-drive car with a good automatic for Bengaluru traffic. Should I wait for the Kushaq facelift or go for the XUV?
The Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI DSG is the more fun car to drive and would be our pick between the two models youโre considering. Skoda hasnโt announced a launch timeline for the updated Kushaq, but an early 2026 launch is expected. The facelifted model should get styling tweaks and a few feature upgrades, making it worth the wait.

The Skoda Kushaq in the Signature variant and the Mahindra 3XO AX5 are both great options. Both have scored a full 5 stars in the BNCAP crash tests and are enjoyable to drive. The Mahindra 3XO is the better five-seater thanks to its wider cabin, while the Skoda Kushaq offers a much larger boot.
