Trending Questions on Skoda Kushaq - Answered by Autocar Experts
I own a 2017 i20 Sports petrol and want to upgrade to an SUV. Iโm a driving enthusiast and use the car for daily office commute as well as long weekend trips, so usage will be mixed. I like the Hyundai Creta and Alcazar but worry about their mileage and modest petrol power. Is there a reliable, feature-packed alternative (not Suzuki) that offers better fuel efficiency and driving enjoyment?
That is a difficult balance to achieve, but two cars come close to your requirements, the Volkswagen Taigun GT 1.5 turbo and the Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSi.
Both use the same engine, and their performance is on par with the Hyundai Creta 1.5 turbo, which already offers strong performance. The advantage of the VW and Skoda engines is cylinder deactivation, which helps significantly on the highway.
When the engine is under low load, it can shut down two of the four cylinders to save fuel and improve efficiency. Both cars are well-equipped, too. We would suggest waiting for the facelift versions, which are expected very soon.
I live in Bangalore. My primary use is an office commute (only 2 km) on narrow, congested roads, with occasional road trips. Our family is two adults and two children, and safety is my top priority. I want a car with strong driving experience and road presence. I previously used a Duster 110 PS and currently drive a Magnite, but am unhappy with its engine performance. My budget is โน15 lakh, and I can stretch up to โน20 lakh. Please suggest suitable cars.
Between Rs 15-20 lakh, the best choice for your needs would be the Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI with the automatic DSG gearbox.
Being a mid-size SUV, the Kushaq gets plenty of practicality, but the highlight is its powertrain that has a 150hp turbo-petrol engine and a 7-speed DSG gearbox that is quick to shift.
Also, the handling manners and chassis tuning make it enjoyable on long trips and around twisty roads. The feature list is also impressive, and you get a lot of kit for the money. The sound system is worth a mention too, and the overall build quality is excellent. The Kushaq would be the right choice and a great replacement for the Nissan Magnite.
Want to buy a mid-sized new SUV. Confused between Hyryder, Kushaq, Seltos, Victoris. My requirements include safety (GNCAP tested, 6 airbags), a reliable engine, good tech features, comfort, a good driving experience, and low maintenance as well. Please suggest which one among the four can be considered, and if you can suggest anything new, please feel free.
I plan to replace my 2020 Ford Freestyle with a turbo model that delivers better stability, ride comfort, and more power. My budget is โน20 lakh - which turbo options should I consider?
As per your requirements, you should choose between the Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun. Both midsize SUVs offer decent ride comfort, good high-speed stability and both come with powerful 150hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines.
You'll also appreciate both SUVs' driving dynamics. Both are mechanically identical and differ only in terms of exterior and interior design. Dealers will also be offering sizeable year-end discounts on both.
I have been using a Honda Jazz for the past 8 years, and it has served me well. Iโm planning to go in for a new car 2026 model, sometime in the first quarter of 2026. I myself drive the car and prefer a manual transmission to an automatic. I enjoy making cross-country road trips and am looking for a car that is good in performance and handling, with good all-around visibility. My budget is around โน15L, but it can be stretched. I was looking at the Skoda Kushaq, Honda Amaze, and Hyundai Venue. Please advise.
Hi Autocar, please advise me on a suitable automatic replacement for my 2014 Rapid Petrol that offers good driving dynamics but with more creature comforts. My annual driving is about 10,000 km, primarily in the city. I am willing to spend up to 25,00,000.
VW Taigun vs Skoda Kushaq. Which would be better for city usage, with a maximum of 500-600 km a month? My budget is below 18 lakh.
Iโm planning to buy an automatic car (or electric) with a budget of โน18โ25 lakh. I want an automatic with no noticeable โrubber-bandโ effect, and I prefer strong performance. Iโm deciding between the Tata Sierra, Tata Harrier, Skoda Kushaq, or the Sierra in petrol - which should I choose and why?
Since you prefer performance and like to drive, the Volkswagen Taigun or Skoda Kushaq will be a better choice.
While we are yet to sample the Sierra on the road, it isn't the sort of SUV to be designed for spirited driving. An even better option compared to these would be the Skoda Slavia or Volkswagen Virtus.
They are sedans, but still get good ground clearance and are superb to drive. The 1.5 TSI engine offers excellent performance, and they are well-equipped and practical too.
Iโm planning to buy a car with a budget of โน18โ25 lakh. I want an automatic that doesnโt suffer from the โrubber-bandโ effect; an electric vehicle is also acceptable. Iโm torn between the Sierra and Harrier, or between the Kushaq and Sierra (petrol). Iโm a performance lover - which should I choose?
Given your budget, and that you are a performance enthusiast, you should check out the Tata Sierra with the new 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. It comes with a smooth 6-speed torque converter automatic, which means there should be less of the rubber band effect that you might have gotten with a CVT auto.
The Skoda Kushaq 1.5 petrol is another good option, although there is a facelift due in the second half of next year, which will bring many new features. While an EV is also a good option, the Tata Harrier EV will be slightly out of your budget, and the Tata Sierra EV will only be launched in 2026.
After 13 years of driving a Jazz, I want to buy a new car for my family of three plus a dog. We live in a small city and drive very little, but take occasional weekend trips. My budget is flexible, ideally around โน15 lakh. Iโd like space, a premium feel and good ride quality. Please recommend 2โ3 best options. Should I consider a sedan or stick to SUVs? I like the Alcazar but Iโm unsure about spending over โน20 lakh for my needs.
You might want to consider the Kia Syros - a quirky, boxy compact SUV, with high-quality interiors and a surprisingly spacious cabin. It's a 60:40 split seats slide and fold too, adding flexibility, and its rear windows roll fully down, which is a positive for your pet. If you want something that's larger and more premium, you may want to check out the Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun, both of which are nicer to drive, especially for your outstation trip.
