Trending Questions on Mahindra Cars - Answered by Autocar Experts
Dear Expert, I am planning to purchase a new car and would appreciate your advice. My usage is limited to around 100-150 km per month, and the vehicle will mainly be used for highway trips. I do not wish to consider Maruti Suzuki models. My budget is ₹8-10 lakh, and I need a 5-seater car. Currently, I am considering the Hyundai Venue and the Mahindra XUV300. Please suggest the best option
The Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 with the 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with a manual gearbox will suit your needs. Since you require seating for five, the XUV 3XO would be better compared to the Venue since it has a roomier cabin. The ride comfort is also good, and compared to the equivalent Venue, it has more equipment too. The Venue has a bigger boot space and more power, but the 3XO is a better package for your requirements.
We are a family of six, and I am looking to buy a 7-seater manual SUV under 16 lakh. I prefer a body-on-frame design. My shortlisted options are the Scorpio Classic, Bolero Neo, and Bolero. Among these, please suggest the better choice for balanced city and highway use.
It must be highlighted that all three options you are considering have side-facing third row seats. These are not as safe as front-facing seats, and we'd strongly advise against this configuration.
I currently drive a Baleno and want to upgrade to a safer, more comfortable car. My budget is around ₹30 lakh. I need low maintenance and excellent ride quality. Monthly running is about 1,800 km (mostly city) with 1–2 long drives a year. I’m open to EVs - I test-drove the Harrier EV and liked it, but I’m concerned about body roll and Tata-related issues. Which cars offer comfort and suspension at par with or better than the Harrier EV?
Since you are open to buying an EV, the Mahindra XEV 9e is a good option to consider. Ride comfort at low speeds isn't quite as good as the Harrier EV, but the Mahindra car does feel more composed at higher speeds. You can also read: Tata Harrier EV vs Mahindra XEV 9e road test comparison
Mahindra will also launch the XEV 9S on November 27. The XEV 9S has a more conventional SUV shape and comes with the flexibility of a third row of seats, in case that matters to you.
I’m planning to buy a compact SUV with an automatic transmission. I’m considering the new Venue and the Brezza. Most of my driving is in hilly areas, and I’m not sure about the Venue’s DCT and smaller 1.0-litre engine. Would this cause issues in the hills? Is the Brezza AT a better option because of its torque converter gearbox and bigger engine?
Hi, I have had a Ford Ecosport 1.5l petrol for 12 years and have been waiting to change it for the last 4-5 years to one step higher segment, but I have yet to find a better replacement. Basically, I am looking for a 5-seater (which can actually seat 5 adults) Petrol or Diesel car/SUV, with good road presence and minimum body roll. I drive 50 km a day in Bengaluru and go outstation once every six months. I have shortlisted Scorpio, Harrier, XUV700, Slavia, and the upcoming Seirra. I can wait for 3 months max. What do you recommend?
My budget is ₹11 lakh on-road in Delhi. I need a reliable petrol car for long-term use, suitable for highways and hilly terrain. It should seat five adults comfortably, have good boot space, low NVH levels, and feel solid and robust. I’d prefer the engine to stay under 2,500 rpm at 100–110 kmph. I’m open to hatchbacks or sub-compact SUVs. Please advise.
Hello, I have owned a Nexa XL6 for the past five years, and it has been very comfortable. Now it’s time to change the car. I’m looking for a 7-seater and have shortlisted the Scorpio N, XUV700, and Tata Safari. Please share your expert recommendation. Thanks.
I plan to buy an EV before June 2026. My daily usage is around 100 km (about 2,500 km per month). I am confused between a 5-seater and a 7-seater — we usually travel as 4 family members, but parents or my mother-in-law join occasionally, so a 7-seater may be useful. My budget is ₹15–25 lakh. The Clavis EV seems suitable, and I’ve heard about upcoming EVs like the XUV700 EV, Sierra EV, and new Suzuki, Toyota and Honda EVs, along with current options like the Harrier EV, Nexon EV and MG Windsor/ZS EV. Please suggest the right option, clarify whether I should pick a 5-seater or 7-seater, the best time to buy (including tax relaxation benefits), and whether PY/BH registration is cheaper.
We'd strongly advise you to get a 7-seat EV for times when more family members join in. Of the current options, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is a great option. It is very smooth, offers good performance, and the flexible seating means you can maximise middle row space (when there's only 4 on board) or make more space for the last row (when there are 6 or 7 passengers on board).
Upcoming 7-seat options include the Mahindra XEV 9S, which will be launched on November 25. Our review of the model goes live later this month. Stay tuned to know if it fits your needs!
I currently own a 4x4 Thar petrol AT. I’m confused between the Thar Roxx and the Tata Sierra. The Sierra looks premium, but the Thar’s ruggedness gives me peace of mind in traffic, water-logging, and bad roads. The Sierra has many screens and touch panels, and I’m unsure how they will age over time. Which one should I pick?
I'm a 26-year-old planning my first car purchase. I'm smitten by the Thar Roxx for its looks and practicality, but high petrol running costs and the 10-year diesel ban worry me. I plan to do road trips all over India and have a maximum budget of ₹18 lakh on-road. Which safe, powerful vehicle would you recommend within this budget? Also, are there any upcoming launches worth waiting for - I can wait until April 2027 when CAFE-3 norms kick in.
Yes, the Mahindra Thar Roxx, in diesel guise, and especially in petrol guise, is not fuel-efficient. One car worth considering is the recently revealed Tata Sierra, which is likely to be available with multiple petrol engine options. And given Tata cars' recent track record of high NCAP crash test ratings, you can expect a good rating from the Sierra as well.
You could also wait for the next-gen Kia Seltos. It is expected to launch by late 2025 or early 2026. The new model is likely to be larger and more spacious than the current version. There are also rumours of a hybrid powertrain, which could be the answer to your long-distance road trips.
There will be many more new launches before April 2027, including models that haven’t been revealed yet. So if you’re not in a hurry, waiting could give you even better options.
