FAQs
Trending Questions on Mahindra Cars - Answered by Autocar Experts
I’m looking to upgrade to a new car. My monthly usage is around 1,000 km, mainly for city commuting as a college student. My budget is ₹10-15 lakh, and I’m considering the Mahindra Thar 4x2 or the new Hyundai Venue diesel.
I currently drive an Ertiga Diesel and need guidance on buying a new car. My requirements: a 6/7-seater petrol automatic with a budget of ₹20 lakh, city mileage of at least two digits, and annual running of about 15,000 km (daily office run ~12 km). I want a car that’s fun to drive. I’m avoiding diesel due to potential future restrictions - what are your views on diesel in Delhi-NCR? I personally like the Scorpio N Z8 S. Please advise.
The Scorpio N isn’t the best 6/7-seater as its third row is cramped, and with all rows up, even a soft bag barely fits in the boot. Its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine isn’t very efficient either, with double-digit city mileage being rare. The Kia Carens Clavis HTK Plus (O) makes much more sense - it’s a better 7-seater, has a sufficiently powerful turbo-petrol engine, is more efficient than the Mahindra, and is easier to drive and park as well.
My budget is ₹25-26 lakh and I’m not sure which car to buy. I’m open to petrol, petrol-hybrid, or diesel. I’ll use the car daily for long drives, city commuting, and family trips. Please advise which car I should buy.
The Mahindra XUV700 in diesel guise is a good option to consider. The diesel engine is smooth, refined and performs well on the highways, but at the same time, the refinement in the city is also very good. In your budget, you can also get a smooth automatic gearbox with the seven-seat variant. The big boot is great for long trips, and overall, it is a very good package.
I want a 7-seater SUV with maximum ground clearance, rear-wheel drive (or AWD), a diesel engine, and an automatic transmission. Good mileage is important. My budget is ₹30-35 lakh (can stretch slightly). I live in Kashmir, so the car must handle occasional snow. Please suggest suitable models.
For your requirements and budget, the best option is the Jeep Meridian. It's got good ground clearance, a decently frugal diesel engine, a smooth automatic gearbox and AWD. It also has a very luxurious interior, a strong equipment list and the premium Jeep badge and its associated off-road pedigree. Bear in mind, however, that the third row of seats is not very spacious, but good enough for occasional use. Alternatively, you could move down a step to the Mahindra Scorpio-N, but its third row is also very cramped. And finally, you could move up to a Toyota Fortuner, which has a spacious third row, but its price is well past the Rs 40 lakh mark for the diesel automatic variants.
I own a 2015 Swift Dzire VXi and want to upgrade to an SUV with good ground clearance, a comfortable ride, and features like cruise control, wireless Android Auto, and wireless charging. My budget is ₹15 lakh (on-road).
I’ve been using a Maruti Dzire LDI for over 11 years and plan to buy a new car for about 1,000-1,200 km/month of mixed highway and city driving. Should I go for a diesel or petrol car? I’ve shortlisted the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Maruti Victoris. Please suggest.
We need your advice on purchasing an SUV within a ₹30 lakh budget. I have previously owned a Ford Endeavour. My top priorities are ride stability with minimal body roll in city conditions, along with spaciousness and good cabin comfort. Please advise.
In the ₹30 lakh budget, the three best options for you are the Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier, and Mahindra XUV700. Each of these SUVs is very capable and has its own set of strengths, including your main requirement of good and stable ride comfort
However, we would recommend the Mahindra XUV700. It offers multiple engine and gearbox options, including optional AWD for better control.
Suggest a five-seater automatic top model car under ₹15 lakh
I want to buy a diesel car. My monthly use will be around 1,000-1,200 km, with roughly 30% city and 70% highway driving. My on-road budget is ₹15 lakh. My priorities are safety, mileage, features, and comfort - please suggest suitable options.
The Hyundai Creta would be our pick. It offers a good blend of an efficient diesel engine, lots of features, great comfort, and reasonable safety too.
If you’re looking for something with better crash safety, the Tata Curvv is a good option - so is the Scorpio N. However, keep in mind that while the Scorpio N has a good crash rating, its high-speed handling on highways isn’t as good as the Creta or Curvv. Also, mileage would be lower in this case.
My weekly commute is about 500 km, mostly solo, with around 95% of driving on highways. I want a car that offers both good power and strong fuel efficiency. My budget is ₹12 lakh. Which car should I choose?
The Mahindra XUV 3XO with the diesel engine has a good mix of power and efficiency. The MX3 Pro is also decently equipped with 6 airbags, sunroof, cruise control, LED headlamps and a 10.25-inch touchscreen to name a few. The diesel engine is smooth, has low running costs and also packs in good power for an enjoyable drive.
