We are a family of six, and I am looking to buy a 7-seater manual SUV under 16 lakh. I prefer a body-on-frame design. My shortlisted options are the Scorpio Classic, Bolero Neo, and Bolero. Among these, please suggest the better choice for balanced city and highway use.

Among the three options on your shortlist, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic is the best option. It's got the most powerful engine of the three, which you will particularly appreciate on highway drives. The Scorpio Classic S is the one that will fit your budget, but it comes with basic features. If you need more features, the Bolero Neo N10 packs in a fair bit.It must be highlighted that all three options you are considering have side-facing third row seats. These are not as safe as front-facing seats, and we'd strongly advise against this configuration. There isn't any body on frame alternative within your budget, but you should instead consider monocoque MPVs like the Kia Carens Clavis and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

I am planning to buy a 7-seater. I am obsessed with the Scorpio classic from my childhood. But the current Scorpio Classic seems outdated compared to the Scorpio N. Now, I am confused about shortlisting a car. Is Scorpio Classic still relevant in the modern era? I am looking to own a long-term car.

If you are looking for a long-term 7-seater, the Mahindra Scorpio N is the better choice over the Scorpio Classic. In Mahindra Cars, the Classic still has its old-school charm and rugged appeal, but it is fundamentally an older product with a dated interior, fewer features and a less refined driving experience. The Scorpio N, on the other hand, is a far more modern SUV with a better ride, more comfortable cabin, stronger safety credentials and a more refined overall ownership experience. It still retains the tough, go-anywhere character that made the Scorpio name so popular, but it does so in a package that is far better suited to long-term ownership. If you are buying with your heart, the Classic will always have its appeal, but if you are buying with your head, the Scorpio N is the clear recommendation.

Hello Sir, previously I was using a Mahindra Bolero Storm VLX CRDe. Due to changing government rules, I sold my vehicle and am planning to buy the new Mahindra Scorpio Classic 2026 base S variant. My monthly usage is around 700km. Should I buy this SUV? My other options are the Maruti Victoris or the Hyundai Creta 1.5 NA petrol due to my limited monthly running. I selected the Scorpio because of its drivability in the city, on highways and in hilly areas. Please give me your opinion.

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic still makes the most sense for your requirements. Coming from a Bolero Storm, the Scorpio Classic will feel familiar in terms of its rugged nature, commanding driving position and ability to tackle rough roads, highways and hilly terrain with ease. Even though your monthly running is only around 700km, the Scorpio's diesel engine should not pose any issues as long as the vehicle is driven regularly and occasionally taken on longer runs. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Hyundai Creta 1.5 petrol are more modern and refined vehicles. They are quieter, easier to drive in traffic and better suited to urban commuting. Given your limited running, a petrol SUV is certainly the more logical choice from a purely financial perspective. However, your reasons for preferring the Scorpio are valid. If you value durability, high ground clearance, strong low-end performance and the ability to comfortably handle city roads, highways and hilly areas, the Scorpio Classic remains difficult to beat at its price point. It also offers a very different character from the Maruti and Hyundai.

I need advice on buying the Mahindra Scorpio N - can you please guide me?

The Mahindra Scorpio N is a tough, dependable SUV built to handle rough terrain with ease. Its body‑on‑frame construction gives it the strength to handle rough roads and punishing conditions. Prices start at around Rs 16 lakh and go up to about Rs 28 lakh for the top‑spec Z8L variant. You can choose between powerful petrol and diesel engines. But if you plan to buy one, the 2.2‑litre diesel remains the better option for its strong torque and efficiency. Unlike the older Mahindra Scorpio Classic, which continues to be on sale. The new Scorpio N has a forward‑facing third row and a cabin that feels hard‑wearing yet well-equipped. The ride quality can get a bit choppy on uneven surfaces, and it does lean through corners, but overall, it’s a solid, go‑anywhere SUV that’s built to last.

Planning to buy Scorpio. Which one is better, S11 Classic or Scorpio N? Generally, I drive on highways, and in the city, I either use a cab or my Ford Figo 5-seater. Now planning to have a 7-seater.

The Mahindra Scorpio N is a much better product overall. It has a more powerful and refined engine, a stable ride that is essential for highway driving, and a good set of safety and comfort features. The third row is also better than the jump-seat layout of the Scorpio Classic.
