The Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 with the 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with a manual gearbox will suit your needs. Since you require seating for five, the XUV 3XO would be better compared to the Venue since it has a roomier cabin. The ride comfort is also good, and compared to the equivalent Venue, it has more equipment too. The Venue has a bigger boot space and more power, but the 3XO is a better package for your requirements.
We are a family of six, and I am looking to buy a 7-seater manual SUV under 16 lakh. I prefer a body-on-frame design. My shortlisted options are the Scorpio Classic, Bolero Neo, and Bolero. Among these, please suggest the better choice for balanced city and highway use.

Mahindra will also launch the XEV 9S on November 27. The XEV 9S has a more conventional SUV shape and comes with the flexibility of a third row of seats, in case that matters to you.

We'd strongly advise you to get a 7-seat EV for times when more family members join in. Of the current options, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is a great option. It is very smooth, offers good performance, and the flexible seating means you can maximise middle row space (when there's only 4 on board) or make more space for the last row (when there are 6 or 7 passengers on board).

Yes, the Mahindra Thar Roxx, in diesel guise, and especially in petrol guise, is not fuel-efficient. One car worth considering is the recently revealed Tata Sierra, which is likely to be available with multiple petrol engine options. And given Tata cars' recent track record of high NCAP crash test ratings, you can expect a good rating from the Sierra as well.
You could also wait for the next-gen Kia Seltos. It is expected to launch by late 2025 or early 2026. The new model is likely to be larger and more spacious than the current version. There are also rumours of a hybrid powertrain, which could be the answer to your long-distance road trips.
There will be many more new launches before April 2027, including models that havenโt been revealed yet. So if youโre not in a hurry, waiting could give you even better options.
