Trending Questions on Kia Cars - Answered by Autocar Experts
Hi everyone, I am from Kerala, Alleppey. I am confused between the new-gen Kia Seltos Turbo Petrol GTX A and the Kia Carens Clavis EV HTX E. Both options are available at a price of โน25 lakh (the Clavis EV is available with a good discount, so the price is almost matched). I need genuine suggestions. I considered many vehicles and finally shortlisted these two. I am not exploring any other options as of now. We are now a 3-person family, but occasionally, 5 to 6 people may travel together. I liked the middle and back row seats of the Carens Clavis EV. The 3rd row might be useful after 3 years. I built a new home, and a 3-phase connection is available. A facility for daily charging at home is available. Solar is being installed, so literally, charging will be taken care of. There is no daily travel. Less than 1000 km monthly travel. Mostly up-and-down 200 km on weekends or 2 times in a month. I am not planning for any long travel of 400 or 500 km at a stretch in the future also. Other travels are in the city only, within a 30 km range. I need good power. I enjoyed the EV's instant torque and the tuning of power in the Clavis EV (BE6 and XEV 9E felt overpowered for me). I plan to keep the car for 8 to 10 years. If both cars are reliable, I was thinking why I should waste money on petrol in the future if I can charge my EV at home almost every day. I may not even use an outside charger, maybe rarely. I was almost settled with the Seltos, but I was tempted by the EV after the test drive. It felt good. So please help me. Thanks in advance.
I am planning to sell my Mahindra XUV500 as it is nearing the end of its registration validity in Delhi NCR, and I want to buy a 5-seater SUV under โน10 lakh. My preference is for a fuel-efficient car as my daily running is around 100 km, but it should also be spacious enough for five people. Since fuel efficiency is a priority, I am open to both CNG and diesel cars. My usage will be 70% city and 30% highway, mostly within Delhi NCR. I have narrowed my choices to the Maruti Brezza CNG, Tata Nexon CNG, Kia Sonet Diesel, and Maruti Fronx CNG. Please help me evaluate which would be the better option. I am also open to any other better option if available.
The Maruti Brezza CNG and Fronx CNG will be more fuel efficient than the Nexon iCNG, and their clutch and gearbox make them friendlier to drive, too. The Brezza is due for a facelift in the coming weeks, so you might want to wait for that to arrive.
The Kia Sonet diesel will feel punchier to drive (than the CNG options listed above), while being very efficient too. Also, by opting for a diesel, you won't need to wait in long queues to refill CNG. Even the Sonet is due for a generation update, which is likely to be launched this year.
Another option you could consider is the Mahindra XUV 3XO diesel MX2, which is more spacious than a Sonet. Its ride-handling balance is very impressive; the Sonet, however, has an edge in terms of fuel efficiency.
Hi, I am stuck between two cars with specific models: Tata Safari Adventure+ (Petrol, Automatic TC) at โน22.62 lakh and Kia Carens Clavis 2025 model HTX(O), DVT petrol at โน22.06 lakh (I am getting โน2.5 lakh discount for the 2025 model in Gravity Grey). I plan to keep the car for the next 15 years. I live in a nearby town of Bangalore and donโt drive inside the city much. It's mostly towns and highways, with occasional city visits to malls. Average driving is less than 1000 km monthly. The 7-seater requirement is just a few times a year (when I club my sister's family).
I am looking to buy my first car. I am currently looking at the Kia Sonet Diesel Automatic 1.5, which comes at โน16.25 lakh and the Skoda Slavia Sportline Auto at โน17 lakh. My main usage would be travelling between Kochi and Bangalore and occasional city drives in and around both cities. I had a Ford Figo 1.5 TDCi earlier, which I loved and would prefer something with a similar driving punch. Which would be an apt choice?
I am looking for a 7-seater manual car which is easy to maintain. My budget is around โน15 lakh. My annual running is 80% on the highway and 20% in the city. I am confused between two options: Carens or Clavis. Please advise which one I should pick and whether to go for a petrol manual or a diesel manual.
I need a 7-seater family car under a โน16-17 lakh budget with safety and mileage for medium running. Ertiga, XL6, Clavis, Scorpio N, etc. I want to invest in only one car for long-term, 10+ year use. Please suggest.
Hi, I currently own a Honda Amaze diesel 2014 model. Now, after using it for so long, I want to upgrade to a 7-seater. I shortlisted the Hyundai Alcazar and Kia Carens Clavis and have done test drives for both vehicles. My daily usage in the city is 25 km, and I occasionally do long family trips. Now I am super confused between both cars, as one has premiumness and the other has space. Please suggest the best vehicle for me. Is the turbo petrol good? Now I am super confused.
I am looking to purchase a new SUV in exchange for my Ciaz Diesel. We are a family of five, and my usage is low and mostly within the city (350-400 km monthly) with a quarterly outstation trip (500-600 km). My main requirements are a car that has good mileage/range, a good audio system, a large boot space and high acceleration (I like quick acceleration but not necessarily at very high speeds). The Ciaz seemed perfect so far, but now it's 11 years old, and I would like to change to an SUV for better ground clearance. I prefer not to have to spend often (for cars with low upfront cost but less mileage). My preferred budget is up to โน20 lakh. So far, I liked the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Mahindra XEV 9S for their overall drivability. However, since they both are nearly โน30 lakh on-road in Bangalore, I was trying to look for other alternatives at a slightly cheaper cost. I have heard horror stories of Tata service and hence would prefer to avoid Tata cars (even though I loved driving the Harrier as well).
I am planning to buy a new petrol car with a manual gearbox. My budget is around โน13 lakh. My usage will be 70% city and 30% highway. Could you please suggest SUV options within this budget?
With a daily running of around 50 to 60 km, a diesel automatic makes good sense as your monthly usage will easily justify the better fuel efficiency and relaxed nature of a diesel engine.
Between the two options, the Kia Seltos diesel automatic is the better choice overall. The diesel engine is refined, and the 6-speed torque converter automatic is smooth and well-suited for normal city traffic as well as highway drives.
The Tata Sierra is also a strong Midsize SUV with more cabin space. But its diesel engine is noticeably noisier and less refined than the Hyundai-Kia diesel. It is also over a lakh more expensive in comparable automatic variants.
For your usage and preference for an automatic, the Seltos diesel automatic is the more balanced and sensible option thanks to its refinement, smooth gearbox and lower price.
I am looking for an upgrade. Does it make sense to buy the 3XO, coming from a Honda City? Please suggest. (Also open to other options)
