Needs a turbo or hybrid engine option
The Elevate has a bold, upright stance with a massive, mostly sealed grille and sleek LED headlamps. Muscular body lines, 17-inch alloys with 215/55 tyres, dual-LED tail-lamps, and SUV touches like roof rails and 220mm ground clearance complete the rugged look. Based on the City platform, it has a stretched 2,650mm wheelbase and widened tracks. Despite its size, it retains a tight 5.2m turning radius.
8.0
The cabin’s brown-black theme, leatherette upholstery, and mock wood finish are neat, if a bit plain. It shares many components with the City, and while not flashy, build quality is solid. Physical climate controls are retained, though not the premium rotary knobs. The 10.25-inch touchscreen is easy to use but basic. Ergonomics are excellent, with a commanding driving position and supportive front seats, though lumbar support might feel excessive to some.
Rear space is generous, but a third passenger will feel cramped due to limited width and a raised centre seat. The middle seat also lacks a headrest and three-point belt. Boot space is a generous 458 litres, and storage throughout is ample.
8.0
Powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine (paired with 6-speed MT or 7-step CVT), the Elevate offers sharp throttle response and strong high-rev performance. Shorter gearing makes it quicker in rolling acceleration than the City. It does 0-100kph in 10.8sec (manual) and tops out at 161kph. The gearbox is slick, though the clutch is a bit sticky.
The CVT is smooth in traffic but suffers from the typical rubber band effect under hard acceleration. Noise insulation is weak, with noticeable engine and road noise. Honda’s decision to skip a strong-hybrid powertrain is puzzling, especially with no diesel option.
7.0
Fuel efficiency is modest – 10.8kpl (CVT) and 11kpl (MT). Shorter gearing and sharp throttle responses hurt economy. Unlike rivals, there’s no Eco mode or auto start-stop to save fuel.
7.0
Ride and handling are strengths. The steering is light yet precise, and the long-travel suspension, while firm, is well-damped. Wide tracks and a long wheelbase provide stability with minimal body roll. Braking is strong and progressive, despite rear drum brakes.
8.0
Honda Sensing ADAS includes collision mitigation, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and more. These camera-based systems work well but are limited in low visibility. LKA needs speeds above 72kph and visible lane markings. Adaptive cruise is smooth and effective.
7.0
While not packed with features or multiple powertrains, the Elevate is a no-nonsense SUV that nails practicality, comfort, and Honda’s trademark reliability. At Rs 11–16 lakh, its price is lower than its rivals which makes it a compelling option for buyers seeking value and peace of mind.

Trending Questions on Honda Elevate - Answered by Autocar Experts
Hi, I am planning to buy a mid-size SUV with a budget of around ₹15-16 lakh on-road. I have shortlisted the following options: Tata Sierra Honda Elevate Renault Duster I am considering the second base variant, and my driving will be around 60–70% in the city and the rest on highways. Please suggest a tension-free (reliable and low-maintenance) engine option, as I am currently using a Tata Altroz NA engine.
Since you are looking for a proven tension-free engine, pick the Honda Elevate, its 1.5‑litre naturally aspirated engine is a very reliable unit and coming from your Tata Altroz NA. You’ll appreciate the Elevate’s smooth, linear power delivery from a simple 4‑cylinder petrol, no turbo lag, fewer parts to worry about, and a decade of reliability in India.
The steering is very light at low speeds, and this is also something you would like, given that you drive mostly in the city. What's nice, though, is that it weighs up nicely as speeds rise. The ride is a bit firm but not to the point of being uncomfortable. The 1.3 litre turbo direct injection engine on the Duster is also another good and reliable powerplant, and should you not like the Elevate, you could also look at this. You will have lower rear space, and the gearbox is a DSG unit, which in start-stop city traffic is not as smooth as the CVT on the Honda.
I own Tiago first generation XT petrol and am not happy with 3 cylinder engine performance. It has too much vibration that can be felt till gear know. I am looking for TATA because I am extremely happy with highway road grip and progressive steering control and safety. But at the same time components of TATA happen to fail prematurely in my case, I don't know about others. My budget is 15 lakhs. Please suggest what should I consider. Thanks
For your requirements, we would suggest going for the Honda Elevate as your first choice.
The Elevate’s 4-cylinder petrol engine feels much smoother and more refined, so you won’t get those vibrations through the gear lever or cabin anymore. It is also easy to drive in the city, and on the highway, it feels stable with predictable steering, which matches what you like about your current car. Overall, it will feel like a clean, proper upgrade in terms of refinement and ease of ownership.
If you still want to stay with Tata because you like the road grip, steering feel, and safety, consider the lower variants of the Tata Sierra petrol.
The Sierra’s naturally aspirated petrol engine is much smoother than your Tiago, and for city driving, it will feel perfectly fine and easy to use. However, on the highway or during overtakes, it can feel a bit short on power. In terms of performance, it may not feel like a major upgrade over your current car, but it will definitely be far more refined, which is one of your main concerns.
Hi, I'm planning to buy a 5-seater SUV. I'm 190 cm tall and looking for a fully automatic, reliable, comfortable, low-maintenance vehicle. My usage will mainly be in the city, with long drives probably once a month. Please suggest a good SUV for me where ingress and egress are easy.
Please advise which car I should buy. I am confused between the Hyundai Creta EX(O) IVT, Kia Seltos HTE(O) IVT, and Honda Elevate V CVT, all 2026 models. My usage will be 50% city and 50% highway. I plan to sell the car in 3 to 4 years, so good resale value is important. Which of these cars would be the better value for money and easier to resell later? Please suggest.
Since your usage is split evenly between city and highway and you plan to sell the car in about 3–4 years, choosing the model that feels the most modern and premium today would make more sense.
Among the three, we would suggest going for the Kia Seltos IVT. It is the newer car compared to the Hyundai Creta, and it is also slightly larger and more spacious, which helps it feel more premium overall. Both the Seltos and Creta share the same powertrain, so either car will offer a similar driving experience. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is one of the most refined units in this segment and the IVT/CVT transmission is silky smooth, making it well suited for both city and highway driving.
Also, considering that the Creta is expected to be replaced early next year, it is unlikely to have a higher resale value compared to the Seltos in the coming years.
The Honda Elevate is also a safe and reliable option. However, compared to the Creta and the Seltos, it does not feel as premium and the engine is a bit noisier than the Hyundai/Kia unit. It is also an older product compared to the Seltos.
I am looking to buy a car within a budget of ₹13 lakh (on-road) in Mumbai. My usage will be around 80-90% in the city and 10-20% on highways. The car should be well-equipped with all essential interior and exterior features, offer good comfort for my parents, and ensure low maintenance along with reliable, hassle-free ownership. I may also use it occasionally for long trips. I am specifically looking for an automatic variant and have shortlisted the Honda Elevate V AT. Could you please advise if this is the right choice or suggest better alternatives within my budget?
Your budget rules out the Honda Elevate V CVT in Mumbai (it sits around the Rs 15.5 lakh; check with the dealer for current pricing). But if you are able to get a good discount and stretch your budget a bit, it is definitely worth going for.
The Elevate has a peppy 1.5 petrol engine mated to a seamless CVT gearbox, and being a Honda model, it will be reliable and stress-free to maintain. Getting in and out of the Elevate is also easy, and it has a comfy ride quality, which means your parents will be comfortable in this SUV. Being the V variant, it misses out on some feel-good features, but it does get all the necessary features.
However, if you want to stick to your budget strictly, consider the Maruti Brezza. Although it is a smaller SUV than the Elevate, it still has a spacious cabin, a comfy ride quality, and a smooth engine-gearbox combination. Also, being a Maruti, it will be reliable and easy to maintain.
I am looking to buy a car for my parents, who do not drive, so it will mostly be chauffeur-driven. My main priority is rear seat comfort. We are upgrading from a 2011 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire. The car will mainly be used for highways and long trips, with minimal city usage. However, I would prefer an automatic transmission in case I need to use it occasionally in the city (Bengaluru). Before starting test drives, I wanted your suggestions on some suitable vehicles. Based on my initial research, I have shortlisted the following options: Honda City ZX CVT Kia Seltos HTX iVT Honda Elevate ZX CVT Škoda Slavia 1.5L Sportline DSG or 1.0 Monte Carlo AT Volkswagen Virtus Topline AT My budget is around ₹20–21 lakh. Which option would you recommend, especially considering rear seat comfort and highway usability?
Go for the Honda City ZX CVT. For chauffeur‑driven parents, it offers the comfiest rear bench, ample legroom, and a smooth CVT for Bengaluru traffic within your ₹20-21 lakh budget.
Rear comfort is its strength: the 2,600 mm wheelbase helps knee-room, the rear seat is well-cushioned with good thigh support, and the ride is tuned soft for long trips. The 506‑litre boot easily swallows luggage for highway runs.
ZX adds 6 airbags and ADAS with adaptive cruise control, useful on long highways. The CVT’s smooth creep and no shift‑shock make occasional city use easy. Versus your shortlist, Elevate’s rear bench feels upright, while Slavia/Virtus ride firmer and are more driver‑centric for back‑seat comfort.
The one thing you give up is ground clearance in comparison to the Elevate. Also, if getting in and out is a concern, the Elevate's high-set seats would make it easier. A test drive should sort that out.
For now, we recommend the City for its hassle-free ownership experience, reliability and most of all, a refined and comfortable cabin.
What would be the best automatic SUV under ₹20 lakh with good mileage, a 5-star safety rating and a comfortable rear seat for 3 people? 90% city driving with occasional highway drives.
I currently own a 2012 Hyundai i10 Era and am planning to upgrade to an SUV. My budget is ₹15-17 lakh (on-road). My annual driving is around 3,000 km, mostly in the city with occasional long drives. My priorities are low maintenance, good mileage, and better rear seat and boot space. I am more inclined towards an automatic transmission and would also prefer ADAS Level 2 features. At the moment, I am considering the Hyundai Venue HX10 and the Honda Elevate ZX. I am not considering Tata or Mahindra models. Could you share your opinion on choosing automatic versus manual transmission for city driving in a place like Ahmedabad? Also, how useful are ADAS features in city traffic? Please suggest any alternative models based on your experience.
Since most of your driving is in the city, an automatic gearbox makes the most sense. Compared to a manual, it brings a lot more convenience and generally makes driving less stressful. ADAS is good to have, but it should be treated as an added safety net rather than something you depend on completely.
Between your two choices, the Hyundai Venue is a compact SUV, and the Honda Elevate is a midsize SUV. Naturally, the Elevate is the larger of the two, but if you want ADAS, you will need to opt for the top ZX trim, which costs around Rs 19.5 lakh on-road, putting it out of your price range. The new Venue HX10 with the turbo-petrol DCT combination is a good fit for your budget and even has more ADAS features than the Elevate. However, it cannot match the larger Elevate in terms of interior space, which is why we also suggest you take a look at the Kia Syros.
In the compact SUV segment, it is the most spacious vehicle. It uses the same powertrain and has most of the same ADAS features as the Venue. It is more expensive than the Venue, but it also gets features like a panoramic sunroof and ventilated rear seats.
