Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus starting prices drop by up to Rs 84,000

Prices for all other variants of the Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV have increased in January 2026.

Volkswagen India is among the carmakers to have increased prices for its portfolio as 2026 began. Some VW dealerships across the country had announced a price hike for the Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan, and we now have the exact variant-wise increase in prices for the India 2.0 models. It should be noted that prices for the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Tiguan are unchanged; in any case, the performance hatch has sold out, though a second batch could be on the way.

The Taigun is Volkswagen’s answer to the Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra and Honda Elevate, and its entry-level Comfortline variant now costs Rs 10.58 lakh, about Rs 84,000 less than before. However, all other variants see a uniform price hike of around Rs 4,000. This means that the Taigun’s current price range starts at Rs 10.58 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.19 lakh.

While the price of the entry-level Virtus Comfortline has reduced by Rs 66,000 to Rs 10.50 lakh, the rest of the range costs more now. The lower-spec Highline AT and mid-spec GT Line MT see hikes of Rs 51,000, while the higher-spec Highline Plus MT and AT are Rs 46,000 and Rs 45,000 dearer. Interestingly, the Topline AT’s price has increased by just Rs 2,000, while Virtus variants equipped with the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and manual gearbox cost Rs 10,000 more. The dual-clutch auto-equipped variants are pricier by up to 30,000. As on January 7, 2026, prices for the Virtus range between Rs 10.50 lakh and Rs 19 lakh.
