Vinfast Auto India has commenced online and offline bookings for its VF7 and VF6 electric vehicles at a token amount of Rs 21,000. The VF7 will serve as Vinfast's flagship model in India for now, and along with the VF6, will be locally assembled at the brand's Tamil Nadu facility. Vinfast is slated to launch the two SUVs in August, with the VF7 arriving first.

    1. VF7 will be offered with FWD, AWD powertrain choices
    2. VF6 will solely come with a FWD setup
    3. Both electric vehicles support AC and DC fast charging

Vinfast intends to leverage its parent company Vingroup's resources in India, starting with service and charging networks. It recently tied up with 13 dealer groups to open 32 outlets across 27 Indian cities, with the first few dealerships coming up in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune.

The 4,545mm-long VF7 has a swoopy, crossover-like exterior and is available in a single fully loaded Plus trim level. It's easily identifiable by its signature 'V Face' DRLs. Features include LED headlights, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a heads-up display, a wireless phone charger, seat ventilation and reclinable rear seats. A Level 2 ADAS suite (radar-based) and 7 airbags are a part of its safety suite. Notably, 19-inch alloy wheels and a raised 190mm ground clearance are exclusive to the India-spec VF7 SUV, and boot space is 537 litres.

The VF7 has a 70.8kWh LFP battery pack compatible with both 7.2kW AC and DC (CCS2) fast charging, and two powertrain options – 204hp, 310Nm FWD and 350hp, 500Nm AWD. Vinfast hasn't disclosed charging times or ARAI/MIDC range for the VF7; it returns 450km (FWD) and 431km (AWD) on the WLTP cycle.

Slotting below the flagship Vinfast VF7, the VF6 measures 4,238mm in length and will operate in the hotly contested midsize SUV segment. The Vietnamese EV maker will launch the VF6 Plus variant in India, and it shares most of its features with the VF7, like the split headlamp setup, central touchscreen, glass roof and ADAS; its boot and alloy wheel sizes are smaller at 423 litres and 18 inches, respectively. Like the VF7, Vinfast has raised the VF6’s ground clearance to 190mm for our market.

Just the 204hp, FWD powertrain will be offered with the VF6, but it will be powered by a smaller 59.6kWh battery that supports both AC and DC charging. VF6's ARAI/MIDC range figures are yet to be announced, but it has a 480km range on the WLTP cycle.
