Toyota revealed its all-electric C-HR+ SUV, first shown as a concept in 2022. The new EV from Toyota will launch in select European markets late in the year and join the larger bZ4X and the recently unveiled Urban Cruiser EV. By 2026, Toyota plans to have six EVs, at least in international markets.

  1. FWD and AWD variants to be offered
  2. 150kW DC fast charging support

57.7kWh and 77kWh battery options

The Toyota C-HR is a popular hybrid model sold overseas, but the new battery electric vehicle (BEV) is technically unrelated to the former. Based on the e-TNGA platform, which also underpins the bZ4X SUV, the Toyota C-HR+ will be offered with either a 57.7kWh or a 77kWh battery pack. The 57.7kWh battery will run the 167hp front-wheel-drive version, while the 77kWh battery will power 224hp front-wheel-drive and 343hp all-wheel-drive versions.

Up to 600km range

The expected WLTP range is up to 600km. An 11kW charger will be standard, and a 22kW charger will be provided for high-spec models. The C-HR+ will also support DC fast charging speeds of up to 150kW.

Toyota C-HR+ EV design, length and wheelbase

‘Hammerhead’ front-end

The production car has retained many elements from the 2022 concept, including the ‘hammerhead’ front-end design and raked roofline. While the width-wide LED taillights were also carried over, the front no longer features the connected light treatment.

Longer than Urban Cruiser EV

At 4,520mm long, the C-HR+ will be positioned above the electric Urban Cruiser SUV. While the width and height dimensions have not been disclosed, Toyota claims the electric vehicle’s 2,750mm wheelbase has resulted in greater cabin space than rivals.

Toyota C-HR+ EV features

14-inch touchscreen

The features list of the C-HR+ comprises a 14-inch touchscreen, two wireless smartphone chargers, rear AC controls, ambient lights and a panoramic roof. Toyota has given the cabin lots of physical buttons and is not as radical as carmakers sometimes are with EVs.

ADAS standard safety feature

Toyota will offer ADAS as a standard offering with the C-HR+. All variants will come with blind-spot monitoring and adaptive high-beam headlights, while park assist and panoramic view monitoring features will be exclusive to the top variants.
