Since its comeback, the Tata Sierra has garnered a lot of public attention, amassing over 70,000 bookings in just one day. Customer deliveries of the SUV started from January 15, and while the car sales data is yet to be revealed, Tata Motors said that the Sierra’s production is being progressively ramped up to meet customer demands. So, if you are interested in the Sierra, here’s how much you will have to wait to get it home.

  1. Automatic variants see a longer waiting period than manual ones
  2. Sierra diesel’s wait times are slightly higher than the petrol version’s
  3. Among colours, Munnar Mist has the longest waiting period

Note: Waiting periods could differ by location. Please check with your nearest Tata dealership for more accurate information.

Tata Sierra waiting period details

Waiting period differs based on the powertrain option

Our dealer sources have revealed that the Tata Sierra’s waiting period ranges from three to four months. We previously reported that more customers prefer the diesel engine over the petrol options. The same is reflected in the waiting periods, with the naturally aspirated petrol and turbo-petrol options having a 2-4 week shorter waiting period than the diesel versions. Moreover, the demand is higher for automatic variants, with the waiting period for them being 15-30 days longer than that for the variants with manual transmission.

The Sierra is available in seven trims: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+. The dealer sources say that the higher-spec trims are in more demand, resulting in longer wait times for them.

In terms of colour options, the Sierra is available in Andaman Adventure, Pristine White, Pure Grey, Bengal Rouge, Coorg Cloud and Munnar Mist. Among these, the Munnar Mist option will make you wait the longest.

The Sierra comes with three engine options: a 106hp naturally aspirated petrol, a 160hp turbo-petrol and a 118hp diesel. While the turbo-petrol comes only with an automatic transmission, the other two engines also offer the choice of a manual gearbox.

The Tata Sierra is priced between Rs 11.49 lakh and Rs 21.49 lakh and rivals midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Renault Duster, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Hyryder and Honda Elevate.

Prices are ex-showroom, India.
