The Tata Punch EV facelift has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the first major update to Tata’s smallest electric SUV since its introduction, bringing with it styling tweaks inspired by the ICE Punch, feature upgrades and revisions to the electric powertrain line-up. Bookings are now open, and deliveries are expected to begin shortly.
While the pre-facelift Punch EV was priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.44 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated model starts at Rs 9.69 lakh and tops off at Rs 12.59 lakh – making the base variant more affordable by Rs 30,000 and the top-spec version with a larger battery Rs 1.85 lakh cheaper.

The Punch EV facelift is offered in six variants spread across five trim levels and two battery options. Like rivals Maruti Suzuki and MG, Tata Motors has also introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option. Under this scheme, the Punch EV is priced from Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom), and battery usage is charged separately at Rs 2.6 per kilometre.

The Punch EV facelift is offered with two new battery options – 30kWh and 40kWh, replacing the earlier 25kWh and 35kWh packs. Both are paired with a single front-mounted electric motor driving the front wheels.
The larger 40kWh battery offers an ARAI-rated range of 468km and a C75 real-world range of 355km, while the 30kWh version is rated at 365km. Tata Motors also offers a lifetime, unlimited-kilometre battery warranty.
The electric motor produces 129hp and 154Nm in the 40kWh battery variants, while the 30kWh battery variants make 88hp and 154Nm. Tata claims a 0-100kph time of under 9 seconds, along with a 32 percent restart gradeability for the larger battery. The car gets three drive modes – City, Eco and Sport –along with four levels of regenerative braking, selectable via paddleshifters.

Fast-charging support has been improved, with Tata claiming a 20-80 percent charge in 26 minutes using a 65kW DC fast charger, with a range top-up of 135km in 15 minutes.
The new battery and powertrain package also brings efficiency gains, with Tata citing reduced component count, lower wiring complexity and improved thermal management over the earlier setup.

Subtle design updates, EV cues retained

The Punch EV facelift gets a revised front bumper with a closed-off grille and a cleaner design. The earlier black trim connecting the headlamps has been removed, while the Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and centrally mounted charging flap remain unchanged.

It also gets 16-inch alloy wheels, along with three new exterior colour options paired with a contrasting black roof. At the rear, the facelift introduces connected LED tail-lamps, bringing it in line with the ICE Punch facelift. Ground clearance of the Punch EV stands at 195mm, while the water-wading capacity is 450mm.

Inside, the Punch EV facelift retains the overall dashboard layout and dual-tone colour scheme with new trim finishes. Higher variants get a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.
Features such as wireless charging, ventilated front seats, connected car tech and a 360-degree camera continue on the Punch EV, depending on the variant. Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard, high beam assist, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.

In the sub-compact SUV segment, the Punch EV facelift continues to rival the MG Comet and Citroen eC3 while sitting above the Tiago EV and below the Nexon EV in Tata’s own electric line-up.
