Renault has pulled the covers off the Bridger concept. It previews a new compact SUV that will hit the Indian market by the end of 2027 and is expected to slot between the Kiger and Duster.
"Bridger will be a key pillar of Renault's global competitiveness. It will be launched in India first and then supplied worldwide," stated Renault CEO Fabrice Cambolive.

Renault Bridger concept exterior design

Measuring under 4 metres in length, the Bridger sports butch and boxy proportions. Up front, it gets aggressive strake-like LED lights with illuminated ‘RENAULT’ lettering in the middle, all of which is enclosed in a large blacked-out grille section. The bonnet has a recessed, blacked-out section too. Below, a muscular skid plate and wide air dam can be observed.

The side profile of the Bridger concept features squarish fenders and wheel-arch cladding, along with 18-inch square-spoke alloy wheels and a 200mm ground clearance. Notably, the rear door handles are integrated in the C-pillar, and the window line funnels as it leads into the rear.

At the back, the most prominent design highlight of the Bridger concept is its tailgate-mounted spare wheel, which is flanked by sharp LED tail-lamps. The rear end is otherwise completely slab-sided, and there's a chunky skid plate on the bumper too. Also of note is the vertical handle, hinting at a side-opening tailgate.
Renault Bridger concept interior
Renault has yet to reveal the Bridger concept's interior, but it promises that despite its sub-4m proportions, cabin space is "exceptional." Rear knee room is pegged at 200mm, which Renault claims is class-leading. The boot space of the Bridger concept is also rated at 400 litres – 10 litres more than that of the Kia Syros, which currently has the largest boot in the compact SUV segment.
Renault Bridger concept powertrains

Confirming our prior report about the production-spec Renault Bridger, the compact SUV will be underpinned by the R-GMP platform and will be available as a "multi-energy vehicle," which includes petrol, hybrid and EV powertrains. This means the Bridger will offer one of the most diverse powertrain line-ups in the compact SUV space. Renault also claims "class-leading efficiency" for the Bridger.
Renault Bridger India launch plans

As mentioned previously, the production-spec Bridger will go on sale in India by the end of 2027. "India is a key market in our international strategy," said Cambolive, and to reflect that sentiment, the Bridger is being designed and developed here. The compact SUV will also be produced in Renault's Chennai plant for both domestic and export markets.
