Hyundai will be revealing the new Ioniq 3 in Europe in April 2026 as part of its next-generation portfolio for the continent that stretches into 2027, Autocar UK reported. A compact EV, the Ioniq 3 will lead the brand’s new product onslaught in Europe and sit below the existing Ioniq 5 in most global markets. Spy shots of camouflaged prototypes have been spotted undergoing winter tests on several occasions, further suggesting the official unveiling isn’t too far off.

  1. Ioniq 3 to be slotted below the Ioniq 5
  2. Maximum range is expected to be around 628km
  3. Series production to begin in Q3 2026

Hyundai previewed the intended production model of the Ioniq 3 with the Concept Three at the 2025 Munich Motor Show. In terms of its overall dimensions, the Hyundai Ioniq 3 will be around the same size as the i20, as per Autocar UK. The camouflaged test mules hint at some design cues that are likely inspired by what’s seen in modern Genesis models.

Also visible in the spy shots are the Ioniq 3’s compact crossover-esque proportions and stance. Some of the exterior styling bits mentioned so far have been previously showcased with the Concept Three. While unconfirmed, the production-spec Ioniq 3 is likely to come with wireless smartphone connectivity, a wireless charger, automatic climate control, and modern safety tech encompassing advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a full complement of airbags.

The upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 3 is expected to be related to the Kia EV4, featuring the latter’s 400-volt E-GMP platform and a range of around 628km on a full charge. That said, there is no clarity yet on the battery pack options that would be offered with this new EV. The series production of the Ioniq 3 is set to commence in Q3 2026 at Hyundai’s facility in Izmit, Turkey.

Hyundai Motor Europe’s CEO, Xavier Martinet, told Autocar UK that the upcoming Ioniq 3 and the existing i20 will be built under the same roof. “We have the flexibility to ramp one (model’s production) up and ramp one (model’s production) down, depending on what the market is asking for,” Martinet clarified. He also said the new Ioniq 3 will debut in April 2026 at Italy’s Milan Design Week, adding to Hyundai’s expanding pure-electric models in Europe, currently comprised of EVs such as the Inster at the entry-level and the Staria as its flagship. This wide range of electrified models will help the Korean auto major achieve “one of the most complete EV line-ups available”, Martinet said.
