November 2025 car sales: Mahindra reclaims second spot while Tata slips to third

All manufacturers recorded sales growth on a year-on-year basis in November 2025.

With demand subsiding after the festive season, all car manufacturers recorded a month-on-month decline in sales in November 2025, but volumes rose considerably on a year-on-year (YoY) basis. Maruti Suzuki maintained its leadership position, and Mahindra reclaimed the second spot from Tata Motors.

1. Maruti Suzuki

Sales: 1,55,317 units, Change: +19 percent YoY

Maruti Suzuki retained its top spot in November 2025 with 1,55,317 units sold, a 19 percent YoY growth. However, sales fell by 83,674 units (35 percent) compared to October 2025. Notably, the manufacturer recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in October 2025, mainly driven by the festive season and price cuts resulting from new GST rates.

2. Mahindra

Sales: 54,005 units, Change: +20 percent YoY

Mahindra reclaimed the second spot from Tata Motors with sales of 54,005 units, over 2,000 units more than its rival. That’s a YoY growth of 20 percent but a 24 percent fall month on month (MoM). While the Scorpio nameplate continues to be Mahindra’s bestseller, the Thar Roxx and Thar 3-door also picked up a lot of momentum in November 2025.

3. Tata Motors

Sales: 51,672 units, Change: +22 percent YoY

Tata Motors ranked second in September and October 2025 but slipped to third in November 2025. However, it continued to sell north of 50,000 units a month (51,672 units to be precise), resulting in 22 percent YoY growth.

4. Hyundai

Sales: 49,295 units, Change: +9 percent YoY

Hyundai maintained its fourth position with sales growing 9 percent YoY to 49,295 units. These numbers were mainly driven by the Creta, Venue, Exter and Aura, followed by Hyundai’s other models.

5. Toyota

Sales: 27,660 units, Change: +27 percent YoY

Toyota’s sales soared 27 percent YoY to 27,660 units. However, like other manufacturers, it also recorded a MoM decline, with volumes falling by 6,888 units (25 percent). The Innova nameplate (the Hycross and Crysta models) and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder remained the key contributors. 

6. Kia

Sales: 23,675 units, Change: +24 percent YoY

Kia crossed the 20,000-unit sales mark in November 2025. Volumes surged to 23,624 units, up 24 percent YoY but down 30 percent MoM. The Sonet was the biggest contributor to sales, followed by the Carens nameplate that also houses the Carens Clavis MPV and the Seltos midsize SUV.

7. Skoda

Sales: 5,941 units, Change: +90 percent YoY

Skoda recorded the highest YoY growth among all manufacturers. Sales jumped 90 percent to 5,941 units. Currently, Skoda’s Indian portfolio includes the Kylaq, Kushaq, Slavia, Kodiaq and the recently launched Octavia RS

8. MG

Sales: 5,754 units, Change: +32 percent YoY

MG crossed the 5,000-unit sales mark in November 2025. Its volumes surged 32 percent YoY to 5,754 units, including both ICE and EV offerings, comprising the Hector, Astor, Gloster, Windsor, Comet and ZS EV.

9. Honda

Sales: 5,204 units, Change: +4 percent YoY

November 2025 car sales: Mahindra reclaims second spot while Tata slips to third

Honda sold 5,204 units in November 2025, a 4 percent YoY increase. That said, its sales declined by 27 percent from over 7,000 units in October 2025. Currently, Honda sells the second- and third-generation Amaze models, along with the City and Elevate cars, in India.

10. Renault

Sales: 3,662 units, Change: +30 percent YoY

Renault sold 3,662 units in November 2025, 1,379 units fewer than it did in the previous month. However, it recorded a 30 percent YoY increase, led by the Kiger and Triber sub-4m offerings.
