Volvo has unveiled the EX60 for the European market. The first product built on Volvo’s new EV-dedicated SPA3 platform, the EX60 marks the carmaker’s entry into the luxury electric midsize SUV segment. The EX60 is an electrified counterpart to the ICE-powered XC60, and following European markets, it will launch in the US at a later date.

Resembles a larger EX30

The front end of the EX60 has a split headlamp setup with ‘Thor’s hammer’ LED DRL signatures and LED headlamps on either side of the bumper. The grille gets a closed-off finish, and the bumper has a black scuff plate lower down.

The side profile features smooth surfaces overall, characterised by subtle character lines on the wheel arches and doors. There’s a sculpted crease and black cladding on the lower side of the doors. Moreover, instead of traditional door handles, the EX60 comes with illuminated wing grip handles mounted on the window line. Wheel sizes range from 20 inches to 22 inches, and the rear wheels are slightly wider for better traction.

At the back, there are slim LED tail-lights, a black strip on the upper side of the tailgate and thick black cladding, along with a thin silver strip for the rear bumper. The EX60 offers two exterior themes, namely ‘Bright’ and ‘Dark’. While the Bright theme uses silver accents for the door sills and bumpers, the Dark theme gets a black finish.

The EX60 is also available in a cross-country variant with 20mm more ground clearance, stainless steel skid plates, matte black cladding, an exclusive Frost green colour, unique interior theme and materials, and cross-country branding on the D-pillar and bumpers. It also features adaptive air suspension with off-road mode.

The EX60 gets a dual-tone interior with a layered dashboard. There’s a two-spoke steering wheel that gets physical buttons and a toggle switch to control volume. You get a steering column-mounted drive select stalk, a large central glove box and plenty of storage options in the front centre console. The seats can be opted for in different colours and upholstery finishes.

The EV packs an 11.4-inch digital driver’s display and an Android-based 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also features an electrochromic glass roof, heated and ventilated front seats, Apple CarPlay, a powered driver seat with memory, ADAS, a 21-speaker Bose audio system (upgradable to a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins speaker system), connected car tech, the Google Gemini AI assistant, reclining rear seats and OTA updates.

Offered in three trims, with outputs of up to 680hp and 790Nm

The Volvo EX60 is offered in three trims. The base P6 Electric features an 83kWh battery pack with a rear-mounted motor producing 374hp and 480Nm of torque. The mid-spec P10 AWD trim gets a 95kWh battery and an additional front-mounted motor with a total output of 510hp and 710Nm. The top-of-the-line P12 AWD packs a 117kWh battery paired with a dual-motor setup producing 680hp and 790Nm. The WLTP-claimed ranges for the P6, P10 AWD and P12 AWD are up to 620km, 660km and 810km, respectively. The EX60 charges from 10 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes with a 400kW DC fast charger and supports AC charging speeds of up to 22kW.

The Volvo EX60 will take on the likes of the BMW iX3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC EV. While Volvo has not confirmed whether it will bring the EX60 to India, it is expected to launch EX90 and ES90 EVs here.
