Tata Motors has revealed the Punch facelift in full ahead of its launch on January 13. This is the most comprehensive update for the compact SUV since it was introduced in 2021. The new Tata Punch gets a Punch EV-inspired exterior and interior, new features and a new turbo-petrol engine under the hood.
- Punch facelift price announcement is scheduled for January 13
- Gets an updated infotainment screen and a new digital instrument cluster
- Expected to come with petrol, turbo-petrol and CNG powertrain options
New Tata Punch exterior design
As was already hinted by teasers and camouflaged test mules, the new Punch gets a Punch EV-like fascia, bringing a clear family look for both the ICE and EV versions, just like the rest of Tata’s line-up. The vertically oriented trapezoidal headlamp pods are identical to those of the Punch EV, but this ICE version is marked out by a completely blacked-out finish for the front bumper, which is body-coloured on the electric version. The new Punch also gets a tweaked LED DRL signature with a contrasting black band in between, while on the Punch EV, this portion is illuminated.

Changes in profile are limited to a new set of alloy wheels, but at the rear, the Punch facelift features a new connected tail-light arrangement. The tail-lamps themselves get new LED detailing, and there’s a reworked bumper lower down as well. Expect Tata to also offer a bunch of new colour options.
New Tata Punch interior and features

The new Punch’s interior will be similar to that of the larger Tata models, such as the Nexon and Altroz. The biggest updates here include a new digital instrument cluster and an updated touchscreen infotainment system, likely a 10.25-inch unit (the outgoing Punch also had a 10.25-inch touchscreen on top trims). Also new are the two-spoke steering and the touch-based climate control panel seen on other Tata models. The Punch also gets new trim and upholstery materials, and on the equipment front, a new 360-degree camera is also expected. We’ll have more details about the full feature list closer to the launch.

New Tata Punch powertrain options
Although quite unusual for facelifts, the updated Punch will also get a new engine option under the hood. The 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine seen on the Nexon will be making its way to the Punch, although its exact specs and gearbox options are yet to be confirmed. The existing 88hp naturally aspirated petrol with its 5-speed MT and AMT gearboxes and the 73hp petrol+CNG powertrain with the 5-speed MT are also expected to continue as is.
Upon launch, the Punch facelift will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Exter and the Citroen C3. The outgoing Punch was priced between Rs 5.50 lakh and Rs 9.30 lakh, ex-showroom. We expect the Punch facelift to come at a slight premium, likely ranging between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9.50 lakh.
