New Hyundai Venue launched at Rs 7.90 lakh

The new Hyundai Venue has officially gone on sale in India at a starting price of Rs 7.90 lakh (introductory). Bookings for the second-gen Venue opened less than two weeks ago, and the new model brings with it comprehensive styling updates, a more upmarket interior and the same powertrains as the old Venue. The new Venue rivals the likes of the Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kylaq, and others in the heated compact SUV segment.

New Hyundai Venue price

New Venue price range is Rs 7.90-15.69 lakh.

Prices for the new Venue start at Rs 7.90 lakh and extend all the way up to Rs 15.69 lakh. The new Venue is available in eight trim levels with a revised nomenclature: HX2, HX4, HX5, HX6, HX6T, HX7, HX8 and HX10. This time around, the new Venue’s sporty N Line variants - priced from Rs 10.55 lakh onwards - have been launched alongside the standard model, making for a total of 10 trim levels. Here’s a full price breakdown of the new Venue range:

Taller, wider and boxier.

In addition to sporting a much more angular and upright design, the new Venue is 48mm taller and 30mm wider, with a 20mm longer wheelbase than the outgoing model. Styling highlights include front and rear LED light bars, flared fenders with squared-off cladding, muscular skid plates, new 16-inch alloy wheels and a lower-set front grille finished in dark chrome.

A total of eight colour options are available for the new Venue, namely Abyss Black, Atlas White, Atlas White with Abyss Black roof, Dragon Red, Hazel Blue, Hazel Blue with Abyss Black roof, Mystic Sapphire and Titan Grey. The sportier Venue N Line, meanwhile, sets itself apart from the vanilla version via redesigned bumpers and alloy wheels, ‘N Line’ badging, red accents, a different grille, a new dual-ridge spoiler and dual exhaust tips. Hyundai has also removed the wheel-arch cladding on the Venue N Line.

Interior looks a lot more appealing.

The new Venue’s cabin is a substantially more premium affair than that of its predecessor. The most notable improvements here include dual 12.3-inch screens, more physical controls, a new 3-spoke steering wheel, a revised centre console, a blue-and-beige colour scheme and white ambient lighting. It’s worth noting that the Venue N Line gets a sportier steering wheel and gear knob, an all-black colour scheme with red contrast stitching, and red ambient lighting.

Feature list has been bolstered.

In terms of features, the new Venue trumps the prior model with ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, drive and traction modes, rear window sunshades, front parking sensors, 2-step reclining rear seats, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake with auto hold and an 8-speaker Bose sound system.

No difference from previous Venue except for new diesel-automatic option.

Under the hood, the new Venue offers the same engine options as the outgoing model: an 83hp 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 116hp 1.5-litre diesel and a 120hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. The NA petrol engine comes only with a 5-speed manual transmission, whereas the turbo-petrol motor is available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

As for the diesel mill, it is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, with the latter being a new configuration for the Venue. 

Coming to fuel efficiency, the new Venue is claimed to deliver up to 20.99kpl and 17.90kpl in diesel-manual and diesel-automatic guises, respectively, and 18.05kpl with the NA petrol-manual configuration. For the turbo-petrol variants, including the N Line, the claimed mileage is 20kpl with the DCT and 18.74kpl with the manual gearbox.
