Sixty-one years after winning the Monte Carlo Rally, Mini has rolled out the Cooper 1965 Victory Edition. This special edition of the British brand’s iconic hatchback pays tribute to the title-winning Cooper S of 1965 and will be offered to customers in India in the combustion-powered Cooper S variant with the JCW Pack. Bookings for this limited-run Cooper are now underway in our market. Globally, the 1965 Victory Edition will be available with both combustion and electric powertrains.

Gets edition-specific highlights over the standard Cooper S
One of the stand-out features on the exterior of the 1965 Victory Edition is its exclusive Chili Red paint scheme paired with a white stripe on the bonnet, roof and rear hatch. Customers can select between a painted white top or a contrasting black top with a twin-pane sunroof; both of them get the white racing stripe.
There are also ‘52’ decals on the doors and rear pillars, with the digits sporting a racetrack-like pattern and finished in white. This number is a homage to the title-winning Mini Cooper S from 1965. The 1965 Victory Edition gets two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels, a twin-bubble rear spoiler and a central tailpipe tucked beneath the diffuser. There is also a red ‘1965 Victory Edition’ marking under the rear windscreen, placed within the confines of the white stripe.
The JCW Pack adds ‘John Cooper Works’ badges on the front grille and rear hatch, blacked-out Mini badges and gloss-black trim all around the exterior.

Cabin retains the Cooper’s modern and sporty feel while integrating unique highlights
The door sills of this special edition Mini Cooper get the ‘1965 Victory Edition’ branding, while the doors commemorate driver Timo Makinen and co-driver Paul Easter, who drove the original car to victory at the Monte Carlo Rally. Meanwhile, the leather-wrapped sports steering wheel features a multi-colour 6 o’clock marking and a ‘1965’ emblem.
Mini has also applied a commemorative emblem to the centre storage lid, which is upholstered in a fabric-like material with a nifty little hoop to open it. Finally, the key fob is mainly finished in a shade of black and sports the ‘52’ insignia.

The turbo-petrol powertrain is shared with the Cooper S
The 1965 Victory Edition uses the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Cooper S. This four-cylinder mill produces 204hp and 300Nm of torque and drives the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. In terms of performance, the Mini Cooper S can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 6.6 seconds, while its top speed is a smidgen under 240kph.
Mini Cooper 1965 Victory Edition expected price
Mini has yet to announce the pricing of this special-edition, limited-run Cooper for India and the number of units it will allocate here. While the standard Mini Cooper S two-door in the sporty JCW trim starts at Rs 55.15 lakh (ex-showroom), the exclusiveness of the 1965 Victory Edition means that it will certainly command an appropriate premium over the John Cooper Works model.
