MG has launched the Rakan 4x4 in Kuwait, and it is the first MG model to bear an Arabic name; Rakan means a 'symbol of strength.' The Rakan's launch in Kuwait gives us a preview of the Majestor that's launching in India this month. The Rakan features a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Essentially a facelift of the Gloster, the India-spec Majestor will be MG India's flagship SUV and sell alongside the former.

Rakan 4x4 exterior details
Gets a refreshed design for the front end.

MG had previously teased the Majestor, giving a first look at the SUV's fascia. The Rakan features an extensively redesigned front compared to the Gloster, with slim LED DRLs up top and a large rectangular grille finished in gloss black; faux silver skid plates and a muscular bumper complete the front. The Majestor teaser featured a similar design, suggesting that the Rakan could likely be the same SUV sold under a different name.

In profile, it retains the overall silhouette of the Gloster, but the alloy wheels feature a different design and a dual-tone finish, and there is black cladding lower down. At the rear, the Rakan features a connected LED tail-lamp setup with a revised bumper design and silver skid plates. The India-spec Majestor is expected to carry over these design elements.
