The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV will launch in India in April 2026. One of the most-awaited cars from the German manufacturer in India, it was earlier available in a combustion-powered avatar before its discontinuation in 2020. As reported earlier, the upcoming CLA nameplate will replace the A-Class sedan, as well as EQA and EQB eSUVs in India.

  1. CLA EV is expected to get an 85kWh battery pack paired with an RWD motor
  2. It will get connected LED lighting and 17-19-inch alloy wheel options
  3. Feature suite could include dual screens and powered front seats

While battery details for the India-spec Mercedes-Benz CLA EV have not yet been confirmed, the international model is offered in two versions: the CLA 250+ and the CLA 350, both of which come with an 85kWh battery pack. The CLA 250+ gets a rear-mounted motor producing 268hp and 335Nm and has a claimed range of up to 792km (WLTP). The more powerful CLA 350 features dual motors with all-wheel drive, delivering a combined 349hp and 515Nm.

As the CLA Electric will serve as Mercedes-Benz’s entry-level EV in India, it is likely that the manufacturer will offer only the 250+ variant here.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV features a sleek and modern design with clear EV-inspired elements. At the front, it gets a blanked-off grille finished in gloss black, complemented by illuminated tristar elements. The twin-pod LED headlights, a familiar Mercedes-Benz signature, are connected by a slim LED light strip for a wide and futuristic appearance. A similar LED strip links the tail-lights at the rear, giving the EV sedan a cohesive look.

In profile, the CLA EV appears clean and aerodynamic with flush door handles and a choice of 17- to 19-inch aerodynamically designed alloy wheels. Black cladding along the lower body adds contrast to it.

The international-spec CLA EV comes standard with a dual-screen setup comprising a 10.25-inch driver’s display and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. An additional front passenger screen is available as an optional accessory. The cabin also features a 3-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, while the carbon-fibre finish on the centre console adds a sporty touch.

The comfort and convenience package includes powered and heated front seats with memory, a fixed panoramic glass roof and automatic climate control as standard. Optional features include a 16-speaker Burmester sound system, a 14-inch passenger display, a head-up display and dual-zone automatic climate control.

On the safety front, the CLA is equipped with eight airbags, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, Level 2 ADAS, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and an electronic parking brake. It has scored a 5-star Euro NCAP rating in 2025. These features will likely be offered on the India-spec CLA EV as well.
