A Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck was recently spotted testing in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. The test mule appears to be a near-production-spec iteration of the Mahindra Global Pik Up concept from 2023. At the time, the carmaker promised that the Global Pik Up concept would spawn a production version that’ll be built upon a “next-generation ladder-frame” chassis and debut in 2025.

  1. Scorpio N pickup’s design mirrors that of the Scorpio N SUV, has a single-cab layout
  2. The pickup will likely be offered with a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine
  3. It’s an export product for South Africa; its India launch is currently improbable

Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck: design

Only the side profile and front end of the test mule are visible in the images, but the familiar headlight shape, LED signature and alloy wheel design make it easy to recognise as a Scorpio N offshoot. However, unlike the Global Pik Up concept’s dual-cab configuration, the test mule of the Scorpio N pickup truck has a single-cab layout with an extended bed behind it and an unusually large rear overhang further back. The front fascia also looks identical to the Scorpio N SUV, whereas the Global Pik Up concept had a different grille and a pared-back bumper with a large tow hook.

Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck: powertrains

The Scorpio N pickup truck will likely be powered by the regular Scorpio N’s 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine, developing 175hp and up to 400Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter auto transmission. Given the Scorpio N pickup truck’s more utilitarian nature, it is likely to have four-wheel drive with shift-on-the-fly functionality and drive modes like Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut and Sand.

It remains to be seen when the Scorpio N pickup truck will debut, but an India launch doesn’t seem to be in the cards right now. The Scorpio N pickup truck will most likely be exported to South Africa first, after which Mahindra may evaluate the prospect of bringing it to India.
