Spy shots of the upcoming Hyundai Verna facelift have revealed a redesigned dashboard. The test mule is equipped with a black three-spoke steering wheel similar to the Hyundai Venue, and it features Morse Code for the letter ‘H’ (....), a design element that's also present on the Ioniq 5 and the Creta Electric.

A new digital driver’s display is also visible, and it's similar to the 12.3-inch unit offered in the Venue. Although the infotainment screen is not clear in the spy images, it appears to be housed within the same freestanding panel as the driver’s display, and is likely to be a 12.3-inch touchscreen unit. Currently, the Verna gets a 10.25-inch infotainment and a semi-digital driver's display with an MID.

The dashboard further features a red accent on the AC vent and white ambient lighting. Other features like a single-pane sunroof, a powered driver's seat and ventilated front seats are expected to be carried forward from the pre-facelift model.

The interior follows an all-black theme with red stitching, similar to current Verna's 1.5-litre turbo-petrol variants; the NA petrol engine variants get a dual tone black and beige cabin theme. The design of the door pads appears largely unchanged, retaining ambient lighting strips above the leatherette-wrapped armrest. The drive selector lever and climate control panel look similar to the pre-facelift model.

Along with the interior updates, the test mule of the facelifted Hyundai Verna also reveals a new rear diffuser, which now features a silver insert for added contrast. The connected LED DRL strip can also be seen, and the sedan continues to use the same 16-inch alloy wheels.

Expected to be powered by the same petrol engines.

2023 Hyundai Verna review: Moving up a notchTurbo-petrol engine from current-spec Verna used for representation.

The facelifted Hyundai Verna is expected to retain its existing powertrain options – the 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit. Both engines are likely to continue with manual and automatic transmission options. Notably, Hyundai has confirmed plans to introduce eight hybrid models in India across segments, and the Verna could be one of them. If introduced, it would be only the second midsize sedan to offer a strong-hybrid powertrain, alongside the Honda City Hybrid.

The Verna facelift is expected to command a slight premium over the current model, which is priced between Rs 12.72 lakh and Rs 20.11 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rival the Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City and Skoda Slavia, all of which are also slated to receive mid-cycle updates this year.
