India-made Mercedes-Maybach GLS launched

Mercedes-Benz has launched the made-in-India Maybach GLS at Rs 2.75 crore, marking a significant price drop compared to the fully imported model’s price tag of Rs 3.17 crore. Alongside this, the brand has also launched the Maybach GLS Celebration Edition at Rs 4.10 crore.

  1. India is now the only market outside the USA to produce the Maybach GLS
  2. It is also the first time India has entered the top 5 Mercedes-Maybach markets

The German marque states that local assembly will enable wider accessibility and faster delivery times for the Mercedes-Maybach GLS.

Continues with the 4-litre twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine

India-made Mercedes-Maybach GLS launched at Rs 2.75 crore

The locally assembled Mercedes-Maybach GLS continues with its 557hp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, paired with a 22hp 48V mild-hybrid system, with total system torque output rated at 770Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels (AWD) via a 9-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. It does a 0-100kph sprint in 4.9 seconds before maxing out at an electronically limited top speed of 250kph.

Features a massive ‘Maybach’ grille and 23-inch forged alloy wheels

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS has a massive grille with chrome slats and a chrome surround with ‘Maybach’, along with LED projector headlights with LED DRLs. The front bumper features faux air vents with numerous Maybach logos finished in chrome. In profile, it gets 23-inch forged alloy wheels and a Maybach logo on the D-pillar. It also gets wraparound LED tail-lights and two exhaust outlets on both sides of the rear bumper. 

Gets dual screens on the dashboard and 5 seats

The Maybach GLS comes with dual 12.3-inch screens and a 3-spoke steering wheel with gloss-black elements. It has 5 seats, all of which get leatherette upholstery and are equipped with 3-point seatbelts and adjustable headrests. Both the front and rear passengers get a centre armrest.

India-made Mercedes-Maybach GLS: Features

Dedicated 2nd row displays, refrigerator, 29 speakers, and more

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS is equipped with two 11.6-inch displays for the rear passengers, dual wireless phone chargers, a panoramic sunroof, powered sunblinds, 4-zone climate control, a 29-speaker Burmester sound system and two wireless headsets. It also gets a 9.6-litre refrigerated compartment integrated with the rear armrest, ventilated and powered front seats and rear seat ventilation. Its safety suite comprises a 360-degree camera with transparent bonnet function, auto parking assistance, a tyre pressure monitoring system and an ADAS suite.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS is a more affordable option to the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan in India.
