Hyundai Staria Electric

Hyundai has revealed an electric version of its Staria MPV, and has confirmed that it is planned to go on sale in the UK and Europe. The new Staria Electric targets rivals such as the Kia PV5 and the Ford E-Tourneo Custom.

Debuted at the Brussels Motor Show, the Staria Electric uses the same basic architecture as the ICE powered Staria MPV launched in 2021, which is based on the same platform as the Santa Fe SUV. The model was previously sold in Europe with diesel power, but it now gains a full-electric drivetrain.

  1. 84kWh battery; claimed range up to 400km
  2. 219hp front-mounted motor
  3. 800V charging; 10-80 percent in 20 minutes

Power comes from an 84kWh lithium-ion battery paired to a 219hp motor driving the front wheels. Hyundai claims a top speed of 183kph and a towing capacity of up to 2,000kg.

Despite being based on a combustion-engine platform, Hyundai has equipped the Staria Electric with an 800V high-voltage architecture. This allows fast charging from 10-80 percent in 20 minutes.

The Staria Electric looks largely identical to the combustion-engined Staria, with only minor front-end changes such as a redesigned bumper. It retains the tall silhouette, twin sliding doors, wraparound LED light bar and large windows. It measures 5,255mm in length and 1,990mm in height, and has a 2,375mm wheelbase.

Inside, the Staria Electric gets Hyundai’s ‘Connected Car Navigation Cockpit’ with dual 12.3-inch screens and over-the-air (OTA) update support. Compared to the ICE Staria, the EV gets a different steering wheel, a more horizontal dashboard design and a redesigned centre console with more physical buttons.

It will be offered in 7-seat Luxury form with 435 litres of boot space, and a 9-seat Wagon with sliding and foldable seats and up to 1,303 litres of luggage room. Hyundai says the Staria Electric is aimed at large families as well as shuttle and fleet use.

Hyundai will begin sales of the Staria Electric in Europe in the first half of 2026.
