The SIAM recall document states that 25,722 units of the Skoda Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia have been affected. It was found that in the event of a frontal collision, “the rear seat belt buckle's latch plate may break, and/or the webbing of the rear centre seat belt assembly along with buckle of rear right seat belt may fail”. This would pose a safety risk for rear seat passengers.

As is usually the case with these recalls, the company is expected to directly reach out to owners of the concerned vehicles to fix the problem. Owners could also log on to the Skoda India recall and Volkswagen India recall micro sites, and enter their VIN number to check if their cars have been affected.
