Bajaj is set to launch a new Chetak model on January 14. It will get a new taillight and likely to get a refreshed overall design among other differences. The Chetak has been a strong contender in the EV scooter market with a 21 percent market share.

Bajaj has sent out an invite stating that it will launch a new model on January 14. The invite reveals an image of a new tail-light design that is quite different from the current split LED tail-light setup, which houses the Chetak badge in the centre and vertical tail-lights on either side. This new design uses a horizontal LED tail-light with indicators at both ends and Chetak branding on top of it.

New Bajaj Chetak to launch on January 14

We expect the new model to build on the strengths of the current Chetak range, which has been performing quite well. Bajaj sold just under 2.70 lakh units of the Chetak in 2025, garnering it a market share of 21 percent. The company crossed the 2 lakh annual sales milestone for the first time despite production being impacted in July-August due to supply chain issues for critical rare-earth magnets.

Currently, the Chetak range offers two battery pack options – 3kWh and 3.5kWh – divided into two series: the 3001 and 35. The 35 series gets three sub-variants: 3501, 3502 and 3503. The base 3001 and 3503 variants are similarly equipped, offering essential features such as a negative LCD dash with mobile connectivity. Moving up to the higher variants, the 3501 and 3502 step up with more premium features, including a TFT dash (which is a touchscreen unit on the top 3501) with app connectivity. The Chetak range is currently priced from Rs 99,500 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru) for the 3001 and tops out at Rs 1.22 lakh for the 3501 variant. We expect that this new Bajaj Chetak will be priced at the lower end of the Chetak range, but it may not be the most affordable model yet.
