Hero MotoCorp is aiming to strengthen its foothold in the competitive 125cc motorcycle segment with two new launches scheduled for the second quarter of FY26.
- Hero sits below Honda and Bajaj in the 111cc-125cc segment
- Cruise control-equipped Glamour likely in the pipeline
Hero aims to reclaim sales crown from Honda
Updated Glamour with LCD dash and cruise control could be one of the upcoming models.
The news comes shortly after Honda overtook Hero in retail sales for July. With the festive season (October to December) typically bringing a surge in demand, Hero’s upcoming models seem aimed at reclaiming lost ground in this high-volume segment.
At present, Hero’s 125cc portfolio includes the Glamour, Super Splendor and Xtreme 125R. While the brand remains India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer overall, its share in the 111–125cc segment stands at 12.8 percent, placing it behind Honda and Bajaj Auto.
“In the 125cc category, Xtreme is positioned for performance. Then there is style, where the Glamour is positioned, with the Super Splendor holding the baton for efficiency. There are three very distinct audiences, and each of these three products has a very strong value proposition,” Hero MotoCorp’s management told investors this week.
“We are augmenting the portfolio further in this quarter, too, making us stronger in each of these three vectors, and we believe that will help us further improve market share in the 125cc segment.”
Last month, we reported that a new Glamour variant was spotted with an LCD dash seemingly borrowed from the Xtreme 250R, along with switchgear featuring cruise control. If this is one of the upcoming models, it will be a segment-first introduction, and the most affordable motorcycle in India to offer cruise control.
