The track-only model removes road-legal equipment such as lights, mirrors, and the side stand.

KTM states that the bike features aerodynamics inspired by the brand’s MotoGP machine, the RC16.

Suspension duties are handled by fully adjustable WP APEX units, which KTM says have been calibrated through extensive testing across some of Europe’s top circuits.

All the electronics can be managed via a 4.2-inch TFT display that also shows lap data.

Lighter body panels, the Akrapovic exhaust, and a more compact electronics system (which alone sheds 2kg) help bring the kerb weight down to 181kg.

The KTM 990 RC R Track is a stripped-down, track-only version of the standard 990 RC R. It’s powered by the same 947cc parallel-twin LC8c engine, but tuned to produce 135hp and 105Nm – 5hp and 2Nm more than the standard bike – and features a lightweight 3kg Akrapovic Evolution Line exhaust. The gearbox has also been optimised for track use, with a longer first gear and a shorter sixth gear.
Suspension duties are handled by fully adjustable WP APEX units, which KTM says have been calibrated through extensive testing across some of Europe’s top circuits. Braking is managed by Brembo HyPure calipers, and KTM has removed the ABS module altogether to eliminate intervention on track.
The electronics package includes three customisable Track modes that allow riders to fine-tune throttle response, traction control, wheel slip, anti-wheelie, launch control, and engine braking. The bike runs on Michelin Power Slick tyres and gets a slightly taller windscreen for improved aerodynamics. Lastly, lighter body panels, the Akrapovic exhaust, and a more compact electronics system (which alone sheds 2kg) help bring the kerb weight down to 181kg – a substantial 14kg reduction compared to the standard 990 RC R.
